The Pavilion of the Waterbury Watch Co. at the 1893 Worlds Columbian Exposition drew litterally thousands of people. Not only could visitors view the fabulous Century Clock, and select Waterbury watches, they could also receive free advertising trade cards, and purchase souvenirs. One such souvenir was this aluminum glove buttoner, with a charm in the shape of a Waterbury Watch. At that time aluminum was all the rage - and Waterbury Watch, not to be left behind, was experimenting with aluminum in their many different products.

The original envelope which it came in reads:

The miniature watch and chain at-
atched to glove buttoner is made
from PURE ALUMINUM,the light-
est metel in practical use.
Its weight is only one-
fourth that of silver.

The exhibit of The Waterbur Watch Co. is one of the most remarkable at the Exposition. The great Century Clock within the Pavilion is 20 feet high and has 100 life-like moving figures, re-enacting the great scenes of American progress. It signifies the crowning acheivment of American watchmaking.
