What I Did On My Summer Vacation
By Grace
Summer 2004
My summer began in Houston, where I spent a quiet two weeks at home doing absolutely nothing. It was nice. Then, after Memorial Day Weekend, I went on a "road trip" with my mommy. If you could call it a road trip.... We just drove around small towns in central Texas for three days.
Okay, so San Antonio isn't really a small town. But the other places we went to were: Blanco, Fredericksburg, Llano, Burnet. Yep, never heard of them huh?
This was a pretty place called Sunset Station. It used to be a train station, but now it's a bar. Disregard the thunder thighs.
In early June I moved into our apartment in College Park with Mereena and Asma, me for my internship with the Office of the Attorney General, Mereena and Asma for summer school.
This was our first flood. Look at how high the water in the bayou is! SCARY!
All settled in.... somewhat. Do you see that lonely square thing on the wall in the back? It's the beginning of our fraternity/sorority party collection. We're starting one from the flyers that Asian frats and sororities hand to us on West Mall. Of course we're never gonna go to any of those parties, but the flyers are pretty! Although, that one up there is neither a frat nor sorority.... It's from Coco's. Hey, we need to start somewhere!
Finally, this year, we were able to celebrate Mereena's birthday. Last year she was in Austin all by herself for her birthday....
Enjoying her surprise giant birthday cookie!
Yeah, we're not creative, but going to Hobby Lobby gave us some ideas. Bryant actually decorated most of that shirt. Isn't it cute though?
She loves it!
So I got a little bit of chocolate on my lip from the cookie, and Asma thought it'd be funny if she smeared it all over my face and took a picture. I really don't eat that messily. Seriously.
The diva prepares for her birthday dinner....
Aren't we SIZZLING?
[they made me wear makeup again.....]
For the first time ever, Mereena finished her dinner! Astonishing! And guess what, I didn't finish mine! The universe has turned upside down! Actually, I had eaten too much of the cookie beforehand....
Awww.... Happy 20th Birthday, Mer. You young'un.
See, whipped cream is for putting on noses, not for eating!
More to come! My summer is yet to be over! :)
