Teenmag.com- Star Stuff- Who's that Babe? Interview with Jorge |
(Reminder: this is an old interview when jorge was in the tv show Skate.) |
How you know him: Jorge has had bit parts in several movies, including Excess Baggage with Alicia Silverstone and Benecio Del Torro, but he really exploded onto the scene on Fox Family Channel's TV series Higher Ground. Jorge, who played Augusto "Auggie" Ciceros, worked with a large cast of talented young actors on Higher Ground, including Hayden Christensen. These days, Jorge can be seen in a co-starring role on the TNBC show Skate(NBC, Saturdays, 10a.m. ET/PT). He plays Dim, a graffiti artist turned video artist and the best friend of skateboarder, Josh. Catching the Bug: Jorge always knew that he wanted to express himself artistically but can't really remember when he decided he wanted to be an actor."I'm not quite sure how that came along, to tell you the truth, cause it's something I knew when I was young," he says. "It seems to be something I've always wanted to do." When Jorge was only 12 years old, he used to sneak out of the house, take the bus downtown and work as a television extra. "My Parents had no ideas," say Jorge. "And I guess from doing extra work on TV, I was like, 'Hey, I like this. This is pretty fun." And that was that. Jorge wanted to be an actor. The Real Jorge: Jorge says that he wasn't that different in high school than his characters on Higher Ground and Skate. "I guess I was always a little troublemaker," admits Jorge. "I like to clown around and what not." Higher Art: On Higher Ground, Jorge played Auggie, a young man teetering on the brink of danger. "He came from like a rough neighborhood," says Jorge. "Got into trouble and what not, had bad influences from his brother and friends. And he was dyslexic, which is kinda weird because he was a graffiti artist. But he would use his art as a way of expressing himself." Sounds like Auggie was a troubled but talented kid, and he sure was popular with audiences. In fact, there are still lots of Higher Ground fan sites with tributes to Auggie/Jorgito on them. "It's almost weird ," says Jorge about Higher Ground's loyal fans. "The show gets cut down, and it's more popular than ever apparently." |
