Muska Magic: Jorge says his favorite pro skater to meet and hang out with was Chad Muska. "That guy's a character; he's a good time," says Jorge. "He has so much energy in him, and he's like on the ball. He knows how to turn the party up." It's clear Jorge really admires Chad. "I mean, that guy's so talented," says Jorge. "He's skating, he's got his own clothing company, now he's gonna start making Muska beats, he's gonna come out with a album. And apparently he came from the street and now he's on top. So, I think it's pretty cool to hang out with those type of guys and have them teach you how to really skate. " It seems like Skate provided Jorge with more than just a job; it was also a great place to meet his role models. Rampin' it Up: The skateboarding move Jorge is most proud to have learned while working on Skate is how to skate the half pipe. Jorge admits that, at first, it was pretty scary. "When you look at them doing it, they make it look so easy, but when you climb up and you're looking down and you've gotta drop in, it's a little intimidating, "he explains. "I'd never really had somebody explain [how to skate the half pipe correctly]. It was always like trial. And you get lots of scratches and stuff that way." Luckily, Jorge got to learn from the best, and now he feels more comfortable skating ramps. No Skating On Skate: Oddly enough, when Jorge and Chris weren't on camera, they weren't really allowed to be on their skateboards. Jorge explains: "Chris fractured his arm skating, and I broke a rib from skating. So I guess, after that, after both their stars broken a bone, [ the producers] were like, 'Ok guys, when the camera's not rolling, you don't touch the skateboard. 'Of course, Jorge and Chris has a pretty hard time not skating when the boards were right in front of them. "Everybody had to keep an eye on us, because you can't help it, right?' says Jorge. "Me and Chris would have to sneak around and try to get on the decks, or try to just get a little skate in. Once you got on there you'd hear somebody yell 'Get off the skateboard!." says Jorge, laughing. In Development: Like many actors, Jorge hopes to move into other parts of the entertainment industry. In fact, he's even working on a film script. reluctant to give any details, but will say, "I'm taking one of the oldest stories and making it new." Hmmm...what could that mean. Jorge is having a good time writing the script, although he admits that it's challenging, and he's even trying to figure out a way to get most of his friends in the film. Skating Forward?:According to Jorge, the future of Skate is uncertain. "I have a feeling it may slip through the cracks," he says. "It's not looking positive, which is surprising because, especially now, skateboarders are hitting the mainstream more than ever."So all you fans of the show should show NBC how much you love Skate. Who knows, maybe you can stil save it. |
