The meeting was turned over to Bob Gardner for the clubs annual financial report and 2009 budget. Included in his report, Bob explained how the
eleven dollar tournament fee was utilized with one dollar going to the club's treasury and the remaining ten dollars going to prize money for the tournament.
The prize money is broken down as follows:
- Forty dollars for the closet to the pin
- Half of the remaining money to the tourament winners
- The remaining money goes in the skins pot
If a tournament consists of less than twenty members, one flight is awarded prizes.
If a tournament has twenty or more members, there is an "A" and "B" flight and prizes are awarded in both flights.
Tournament Director Dick Pierantozzi then spoke. He thanked the membership with entrusting him to be their Tourament Chairman. Additionally, he thanked
Bill Inman for the fantastic software and forms which Bill provided for setting up the touraments. Dick spoke about his efforts to rotate member's starting times
and occasionally having members play with different members.
Also discussed were the current golf courses being played, members likes/dislikes, and what possible changes could be made for the 2010 year.
Several ideas emerged including attempting to set up one or two tournaments at a higher end golf course such as Barona or The Crossings at Carlsbad,
and setting up a tournament at some of the military golf courses like Sea and Air or Admiral Baker.
Additionally, some feel we should get Castle Creek and Fallbrook back on our schedule.
This will all be researched in the coming months and reports posted on the clubs website.
The meeting was then turned back to IV, who received a consensus from the members concerning the Presidents Cup.
All agreed that the tournament should continue and that no member should be denied entry to the tourament, i.e. no qualification round,
just sign up and pay the entry fee. The board will work out the tournament format and seeding procedure in the upcoming months.
These results will be posted on the web.

Bob Gardner presented the members with the annual report of the financial status of the club.
The board announced to the members:
1.The recipient of the 2008 Founders Trophy would be Dick Pierantozzi, to which he
is deeply honored and grateful.
2.The most improved golfer during the 2007 year was Carl Vancio,
Well done Carl for the hard work.
IV discussed the declining membership of the club and if members had suggestions on
how to recruit new members who were truly interested in playing golf and showing up at
the tournaments. Several ideas were brought up, the most popular being that the club develop
flyers where they could be strategically located at worksites and golf courses.
Bill Inman raised the subject concerning the limited prize monies when there are sixteen or
fewer players and how it should be distributed. After a spirited exchanges by members,
three basic plans emerged:
1. Don't raise fees and pay $10.00 for closest to the pin.
2. Don't raise fees and pay $5.00 for closest to the pin.
3. Raise the fee to $15.00 and pay $10.00 for closest to the pin.
A vote was called and 11 hands (yeas) adopted plan 1.
IV recommended that all members visit the clubs website for the most current information
and possible schedule changes, www.geocities/waterfrontgolf.

Bill Wood, Dave Snyder, Gene Wolfe, Joe Golart, Pat Major, Dave Maestas, Bill Wood
and Stan Westover. Please let me know if I forgot anyone.
There was no election for new officers, so last years officers will carry over.
2007 Officers:
President: IV Long
Vice President: Tony Witty
Treasurer: Bob Gardner
Handicap Chairman: Stan Westover
Tournament Director: Bill Inman
Pizza and beer (and soft drinks) were consumed by all and a good time was had by all.
We recognized our most improved golfer for last year - Stan Westover.
Since Stan started working at the Auld Course, now Salt Creek his index has gone from around
14 to around 7, quite an accomplishment.
We also recognized Dave Snyder as our Founder's member for this year. Dave will be
honored at the Bonita 4 club tournament this year in Feb.
In the Treasurer's report, Bob said that we have an extra $250. It was voted that we would
use that money to lower fees slightly at select tournaments thru the year. The reduction will
be in the $2 to $9 range for all golfers. Bob will pick the tournaments and let everyone
know in advance which tournaments they will be.
Minor changes have been made to the club by-laws -
President's Cup - Members playing in the President's Cup will now have to pay $20. This money
will be refunded to the member as long as they play in every scheduled match. If the
member misses a match, the $20 will be forfeited. This is to ensure that members signing up
for the President's Cup will make every effort to play their matches. Money talks.
Renewal Date - The date for members to renew their membership has been changed to
November 15th. The SCGA has changed their renewal date and we need to move our date up to
make sure we send our membership list to the SCGA in a timely manner. If a member does not
renew and is dropped and then wants to rejoin, there will be an additional $10 SCGA fee.
The web now has more archive information on it, including past schedules, past members,
a list of President's Cup winners, Club Champions, Most Improved Golfers, and Founder's Club
Award recepients. Take a look on the Historical Page for a list of all that's out there and
then take a walk down memory lane.
As president I want to thank the members of the board for all the work they have done
to keep Waterfront Golf an enjoyable venue for golf.
