Chapter 1

Joey sat, trembling in the spot where he had awoken not more than five minutes earlier, still too scared to move from his place on the cold marble floor of the hallway.

He had no idea where he was or how he had gotten there. He remembered falling asleep in his bed at home, and the nothing. He woke up spread out on a white and gray marble floor, up against a stark white wall, reaching up toward a silvery domed ceiling. The walls seemed to spread out more at the top, creating the effect of a renaissance cathedral. He also noticed that the hallway he was in seemed to stretch on forever in both directions, and was extremely brightly lit.

At first he took the brightness to be light shining off of the high silver ceiling, but then he noticed that there were no lamps or candles in sight. The light must be coming from or through the ceiling.

He had been too scared by his surroundings to further investigate the source of light, but after some time with nothing, human or other, walking by his courage was brought up. He rose to his feet, swaying a little bit at the felling of standing up, as if he had been sleeping for several hours.

He leaned his head way back to stare up at the ceiling. It looked odd. Not quite like a metal but still a silver color. He pondered what it could be and realized what it was almost immediately. The answer to the source of light hit him in a flash, and he was surprised that he had not thought of it before.

The ceiling was made of glass, and the light was moonlight shining through the panes. It was very concentrated which is why the ceiling had a silver hue to it.

Having realized this, Joey's courage heightened even more, and he began walking down the hallway. He didn't know the direction, for there didn't really seem to be a distinct direction in this house, if it indeed was a house. This is when he noticed the many doors lining the hallway on both sides.

They were very plain doors, contrasting with the white walls. Each one was a simple oak slab with a round brass ball for a doorknob.

He knelt down in front of one of the doors, and began to inspect the doorknob. There was no sign that the doors could be locked. No keyhole or latch of any kind. This led him to believe that he could open and enter any door of his wish at any time. With this in mind, he put his hand over the knob in front of him and gently turned the shiny brass ball beneath his palm.

The door, though extremely heavy looking, swung open without a single push. As soon as the door opened a light tinkling music filled his ears, and he looked into the room.

The first thing that Joey noticed was a man lying on a day bed against the back wall, and he began to back out into the hallway.

"Oh! I'm so sorry, sir ..." Joey stopped himself and took a step closer to the man when he realized who it was.

"Lance! What are you doing here?" He began walking forward, but then stopped in his tracks when Lance did not respond.

"Lance?" There was still no response and Joey began to suspect that the man lying on the couch and clutching an apple in his left hand was actually a statue of his best friend and not the real thing. He stared at it closely, trying to detect if the thing on the couch was breathing, but he could not tell from where he was in the room. he walked up closer and closer until he was just within inches of the face and stared with wide eyes at the still and empty features. They were motionless and completely blank. He then put his hand in front of the lips and touched them when he could feel no breath against his fingers.

He jumped when he felt the damp, warm lips kiss his fingertips. He pulled back and looked closer at the face. It didn't show any signs that it had moved, so he touched the lips again with one finger. He gasped when the opened up and the mouth sucked on the end of his finger.

At this, Joey sat beside the bed and ran one hand up the arm of his "friend". The arm raised and encircled Joey pulling him closer. Joey crawled onto the bed with him and let the "man" hug him close kissing along his jaw line.

"Lance." There was no reply and Joey pulled back, but "Lance" pulled too, running his hand under Joey's shirt and up his chest.

"Lance, stop." His command was not followed, and "Lance" attempted to pull Joey's shirt up over his head, his face still blank of expression.

"Lance, I'm serious. Stop this right now." He groaned when "Lance" succeeded of ridding himself of Joey's shirt. Joey looked to his face and felt like he was going to be sick. "Lance's" face was still blank and his eyes were shallow and unblinking as if he were in a trance. That was just fucked up right there.

Joey yanked "Lance's" arms away from his body and jumped up from the bed, pulling his shirt back over his head. When he looked back "Lance" was lying face down with the apple on the floor. Joey quickly ran from the room, away from this strange "Lance."

When he had gotten back out into the hall, he backed up, not looking back as he glared at the door to the room with "Lance" in it. He didn't realize that anyone else was there until he felt a stout warm body behind him. He backed up into it and gasped as he turned around. He could feel the cold end of a gun pressing into his back and he stopped turning right away. He instinctively put his arms up in the air and waited for the man behind him to command him of something, and was surprised when he turned around and saw a short woman standing behind him. She glared at him and began screaming in his face.

"What the fuck were you doing in that room?!" Joey simply stared in awe, but soon came around when the butt of the gun hit him in the head.

"Answer me!" He averted his gaze and answered rather shakily.

"I'm sorry, m'am. I didn't know that I wasn't allowed in there. I thought I could go in any room that I wanted to."

"You thought that you were allowed in anyone's bedroom that you wanted?! How stupid are you?!" Joey's blood began to boil at the insult.

"Look, lady, I didn't know that these were people's bedrooms. I didn't even know that that guy was in there. And another thing, he's freaky and he looks just like Lance. Who the hell was that in there? Is that Lance?" Before he could get an answer, Joey felt the gun hit him again, but harder than before, and the next thing he remembered was being enveloped in darkness.
