Chapter 5

Seven months later Lance walked up to a row of tombstones, and looked longingly at the first one, which read Justin Timberlake.

“I’m sorry, dude. I have missed you so much, and I don’t know what happened. I wish you were still with us, I truly do. I hope that you don’t hate me; your family does.” He looked very sincere, and tears began to well up in his eyes as he walked on to the next stone.

“Chris, you were such a good friend to me, and I dream every night that you were still here with me, but I know that it can’t happen. I can’t believe that I did that to my friend, of all people.” He almost fell to his knees as the tears made their way down his cheeks, and he moved on again.

“JC! Why did this have to happen?! I didn’t mean to, I swear it! I wish that I could just take it all back, I really do! How could this have happened?! Why?!?!” He glanced around, worrying that an innocent bystander might hear his frantic pleas, but then turned back around and saw Joey’s tombstone in front of him. He sank to the ground and tried to cover his tearful eyes, but could not move his arms, because of the canvas strapping them back. He felt a kind hand on his back, and turned his face up to look at the man in the white coat.

“We have to go now, Lance. It’s almost time for your medication again.” He silently stood and was escorted into the white van occupied by more men in white coats all packing sedatives incase they were needed. He was strapped into his seat and sat staring out the window all the way back to the hospital that had been his home for the last few months. After the murders everyone was getting kind of suspicious and he was questioned again. This time before any questions were asked he plead insanity, and was immediately convicted and sent to the Florida State Hospital for the Criminally Insane. He really had no idea what had happened, and wished that he could take it all back. The doctors almost immediately diagnosed him as schizophrenic, and gave him his own personal padded cell, just like the one in the I Drive Myself Crazy video. The only differences were that instead of silk pajamas he had a canvas straightjacket, and instead of being with his late friends he was all alone. As he was lead inside, he tried to cover his ears at the taunting screams of the other patients.

“’NSYNC is ‘nsane! ‘NSYNC is ‘nsane!” He closed his eyes, and tried frantically to tear his arms free of the canvas straps to make the terrible voices go away.

“He’s hearing things again.” One of the doctors whispered as he looked around at the silent patients who had not even uttered a word since they had entered. They were all just staring at Lance who was thrashing around for no apparent reason. One of the doctors then plunged a needle into Lance’s side, and administered the sedative. Lance cried out in pain and fell to the floor, his eyes full of tears. He had been thrown into his own personal, and permanent Hell.
