The Tiger Shovelnose Catfish is a large fish that must be kept in large tank. This bottom dwelling fish establish territory over large rock or wood. This nocturnal fish often prey on smaller fish that can fit its mouth. Powerful filtration is required. Tankmates should be large enough to avoid being eaten.

Note: This fish is often confused with P. fasciatus especially juvenile specimens.
