This is a fairly docile fish. The Venustus like warmer water with a higher ph. The water quality must be very good to keep these fish as they are sensitive to nitrate build-up. The Venustus makes a great community fish as it is not really aggressive yet will hold its own when getting bullied by other fish. These fish like caves so there should be a lot of hiding places for them in the tank. Distinguishing the males from the females is difficult though generally the males will have egg spots and are brighter in color. The Venustus is a mouth brooder.
