Even if you buy ponies in an online aution, it's likely that this pony will need a cleaning. I'm sorta fanatical about it...I mean, when we were little kids, how often did you want your My Little Pony to take a bath??? So Below are tips, advice so on and so forth all about pony cleaning. |

Be Gentle--> Remember these toys are at LEAST over 10 years. Their hair can pull out, sparkle does wear off..so when you clean them, be nice! |

I found shampoo works well, and can mask old cigarrette smells. I use Suave it's cheap..and if it's good enough for my own hair, then it's good enough for my ponies! |

Before you get the pony wet, brush out the tangles of it's mane. Then scrub lightly the body and hair of the pony with shampoo. I use a toothbrush on the body, but I am always careful with the symbols, they do rub off. |

After the hair and body are washed, you may want to condition the hair. Leave in a little conditioner for about 1/2 an hr. This will make it easier to mold, and keep away the frizzies. |

After the conditioner is rinsed out, dry off the body, and the hair lightly. Use a detangler comb, and roll the hair around pens (mini curlers) then secure with a bobby pin. This gave some of my ponies the BEST hair. |

For Damaged Hair: get the hair wet and separate the curls as best you can, then put clairol defrizzing balm on the hair, it recoats it with silicone and it's as good as new!! **Thanks Lindsay for this hint!** |

some so soft ponies are beyond repair and there is no way to fix rubbed off fur so the ponies are worthless....but you can remove the fur and it will look like a brand new pony. I used acetone ( nail polish remover ) on a cloth to wipe off fur ( keep away from symbols and eyes) and non-acetone nail polish remover to gently clean painted areas. The non-acetone will damage paint if rubbed hard. I have sucessfully rescued three very ugly so-softs and will never pass one up in a thrift store again! Some of the so-softs seem to have different adheisives, for one I scraped fuzz off in hot water and cleaned up goop with goo-gone and nail polish remover. Thank you Nadimah1@aol.com for this tip. |
