"Damn!" Taylor muttered as she pulled away from him, tucked her hair behind her ear and slowly got up to answer the door. She gave his hand a squeeze and smiled reassuringly at him, then swung the door open. "Hey guys.." she said to Ike and Zac as they stood before her, both wearing stupid grins. "Come on in.." "Is Tay still here?" Ike asked. "Oh. Hey bro." he grinned as he saw Taylor sitting on the couch, cup of coffee in hand. "Dude..we just got our asses chewed BIG TIME.." Zac said, grinning. "Hi Dayna." "Hello Zac. Your mama ripped ya a new one, huh?" she grinned. "Actually it was Dad..' Ike grinned back. "So if ya'll are in such big trouble what are you doing here?" she asked, taking a seat next to Taylor and reaching for her cup. "Sit down dork squad.." she teased. Zac sat on her other side, and Ike took a seat in the recliner. "We were sent to get our perfect brother, who had sense enough to stop and check on mom's right hand woman.." Zac laughed. Dayna rolled her eyes. "Shut up Zac. Dad was pissed 'cause we didn't make sure Tay had a ride home. So we came to make sure he had a ride.." Ike said. Taylor was extremely annoyed at his brothers' timing. "What happened to your dates?" he asked them and sipped his coffee again. "Jenna had to go home early, she has an early class." Ike said, flipping the footrest of the recliner up. "Nice chair, Dayna." "Thanks.." she said absently, taking Taylor's empty cup and her own. "More coffee angel?" she asked. "Please.." he smiled up at her as she stood. "You geeks want coffee?" she asked the other two. "If you're pouring." Ike grinned. "You got Dr. Pepper, Dayna? I'm not a coffee freak like Tay.." he joked. "Sure." she said and went into the kitchen. As soon as she disappeared Taylor's brothers started in on him. |
"Dude..we weren't INTERRUPTING anything were we?" Zac asked grinning. "Yeah man..we could have come back.." Ike teased. "Shut up..." Taylor said angrily. "You guys have no idea.." "Chill man." Zac said, looking over his shoulder to make sure Dayna was still out of earshot. "Yeah Tay." Ike added. "If you guys like each other it's cool with us. Dayna's awesome." Taylor relaxed some. "Thanks, man." "Dude, you could do worse.." Zac grinned. "Kelly told me about that friend of her sister's..'you stuck up asshole'.." he said the last in a bad imitation of a girl's voice. Zac laughed at his own joke. Taylor rolled his eyes, "Don't remind me," he laughed and Ike joined him. Dayna returned from the kitchen then, all four drinks in her hands. Zac jumped up and took the glass of Dr. Pepper from her. "Thanks Dayna." "No problem." she smiled. "Here ya go.." she handed a cup of coffee to Ike and set her cup and Taylor's on the table in front of them. "Thanks." Ike and Tay said in unison. They all sat and talked for a long time, joking and enjoying each other's company. Dayna asked Ike and Zac a million questions about their dates, and had a few words of advice concerning women for both of them. Taylor smiled as she talked, knowing that she was genuinely interested in them. He was even happier when they asked her a million questions about school and the different jobs she had worked to put herself through. Taylor had known that her parents wren't around, but he never knew why. "Aww, you guys don't want to know all the gory details. They're divorced. They don't like each other very much and fight over who I spend more time with, so I just don't visit that often. Nothing like feeling as if you are the flag in a game of tug of war. They don't help me out with the cost of my schooling because they can't, but they would if they could. I don't mind working though. Keeps me out of trouble most days." she grinned. "Yeah..but not today.." Zac giggled. She tossed a pillow at him. "I'm just fine now, buster and don't forget you are on my turf now." she laughed. "Whoa! Okay, before this gets out of hand, we better go. We were supposed to get Tay and come right home. Zac and I are still in deep shit." Ike said. Zac stood to leave when Ike did. "Gimme a minute.." Taylor told them. "Okay. Thanks Dayna. See ya.." they told her as they walked out the door. "Bye ya'll." she said and turned to Taylor, who shut the door and leaned up against it. He took her hands in his and looked into her amber eyes. "Please, Day. I need to see you again." he said. "Alright, angel. I'm workin' tomorrow, and I have a ton of reading to do still. When did you have in mind?" she asked. He smiled brightly and hugged her close. "I'll call you tomorrow as soon as I know what my dad has going for us, okay?" She nodded and squeezed his hands. Taylor lifted her face to his and kissed her, taking her lips into his mouth and tracing them with his tongue. She leaned into him, slipping her arms around him and running her hands up his back, opening her mouth slightly to let him farther in. |
"Day?" he asked softly when they pulled apart. "Hmmm?" "I'll miss you." he smiled. "I'll miss you too, angelface. You better get going, or your parents may change their mind about me." she said. "Never happen." he grinned and bent to kiss her again. There was a loud sounding of a horn and Taylor groaned. "Go on, baby. they're gonna piss off my neighbors. They're already pissed because of my former roommate." she told him. "Bye Day. I'll call you tomorrow.." "Bye angel." she said softly as he kissed her cheek, opened the door and headed for th car with his impatiently waiting brothers inside. |
