Dayna's head snapped up at the sound of his voice, she didn't think she heard him correctly. But she didn't have time to make sure because the waitress came up and tried to berate her for using the back door. "You can't take him out that way.." she said, her tone snotty. "Oh yeah? Who's gonna stop me? You?" she asked, "Have fun explaining to the cops why you gave him liquor when you know damn well he's not legal drinking age, AND that the other one isn't even old enough to be IN here.." Dayna told her, a challenge in her voice. "Day..." Taylor groaned, leaning more heavily on her. "Shhh angel, just tryin' to get you some fresh air baby.." she soothed. The snotty waitress stepped aside, knowing that if she didn't this woman would make sure there was hell to pay, and she needed this job. Dayna struggled to get him out the back door, then shoved him up against a wall, so she could catch her breath. She felt his hands in her hair, and looked up at him. He had a handful held to his face, and rubbed it against his cheek, and breathed in to smell it. "Oh angel.." she sighed, took his hand and wrapped it around her shoulder. "Come on angel, you have to help me some.." she told him, half-dragging him to her car. "I'm tryin'..Day.." he told her as he stumbled a bit. "Baby..why? Why do this to yourself?" she asked as she shoved him against the hood of her car, so she could open the door. "Day..don't.." he moaned and slumped over the hood, his head in his hands. "Don't what, angel? Come on, get in. We'll go to my place. You can't go home like this..." she told him. "Day.." he breathed, as she tried to move him to get into the car. "Right here, angel. Please just get in..we'll talk soon as we get to my place and you have some coffee.." she begged. "Kay.." he reached out to touch her cheek after he sat on the seat and she knelt to shove his legs in the car. "That's better angelface. " she smiled and ran her hand through his hair, making him smile at her. "My place isn't far from here, baby. Can you hang on to your tummy till then?" "I'm not gonna get sick Day.." he slurred, grinning at her. "Okay dollface, we'll be there in just a sec.." she said, slammed his door shut, got in on the other side, started it and pulled away. Getting him in the house was not as difficult as she thought it would be, he helped more and seemed to be snapping out of it a little bit. She sat him on the couch, pulled his shoes off and set them by hers. "Day.." he started to get up when she went to leave the room. "It's alright angel, just gonna make us some coffee, then you can tell me about your trip.." she said lightly. "You should know it sucked, Day.." he said, flatly. "Just let me make the coffee, angel.." she said softly, "I'll be right back." She went into the kitchen, put the coffee in the coffee maker and switched it on. Then she stood, her back to him and kept her head down and her hands on the counter. As she was waiting for it to finish, her phone rang. "Hello?" she answered. "Hi Dayna. It's Diana." |
"Yes, Ms. Hanson? What can I do for you?" she asked. "Ike and Zac just came in, they said that Tay was with you.." "Yes, he is. Did you wanna talk to him?" she asked. "No, Dayna. The boys told me he had too much to drink, I just wanted to let you know that you can get in the gate when you bring him home, without buzzing, so you don't wake his father. You weren't too far off the mark with that comment about their father skinning them if they came home like that.." "I know. That's why I said it.." Dayna grinned. "Thank you, sweetie." she said. "Ms. Hanson?" "What honey?" "I'll have him home as soon as he can get in te car on his own. He's heavy.." she giggled. "Okay Dayna, bye." "Bye." |
Dayna poured two cups of coffee and brought them into the other room. "Here ya go, angel. Drink it. You hungry?" she asked. "No." he said and sipped his coffee, then leaned back on the couch. "Day?" "Yeah?" "I missed you." he said, not taking his eyes from hers. "I missed you, too, angel." she told him. "Was your trip really that bad?" "Uh huh.." he sipped his coffee again. "Why?" "'Cause I called and called and you weren't here..and I wanted to talk to you, Day. I needed to.." he let his head drop back again and groaned. "I'm sorry, angel. Midterms..too many tests and not enough hours in the day to work and study. I would have listened.." she told him, and set her coffee down, taking his hand. "Day?" "Hmm?" she stroked his fingers, without realizing it. "Why do you touch me like that?" he looked right into her eyes. "Didn't know I was doing it..want me to stop?" she asked. He shook his head no. "I want you to know WHY you do it.." he told her. "Can't help it, angel. I was worried about you.." "Why? Why were you worried about me, Day?" She sat for a moment, unable to take her eyes from his. "Because I love you, angel." she said, softly. He laced his fingers through hers and reached for her with his other arm. "As much as I love you?" he asked. "Yes, angel. More than you know.." she told him. He pulled her into his arms and held her tight, burying his face in her hair. "Daylight.." he murmured again, letting his hands travel over her back and through her hair. He tilted her head, making her look at him. "Don't push me away again, Day. It's so dark without you.." he said softly. "I love you.." "I love you too, angel." she kissed his lips and let her hands rake through his hair. "Oh god, Day.." he breathed, and parted her lips with his tongue, leaning his body over hers, settling her back against the arm of the couch. Her arms came around his neck and pulled his body close to hers. |
