The Man on the Shore
One day when we were fishing--
It still seems strange--
A man stood on the shore,
And I began to change.
I'd heard about this man--
He'd go around to teach.
But this day he stopped
And stood upon the beach.
He watched us as we cast our net
Out upon the sea,
Then said those fateful words to us,
Come, follow me.
What? Me,
And brother Andrew, too?
We're just ordinary guys--
Why should we follow you?
Yes, it's you I choose.
I'll teach you how
To fish for people.
Come, follow, now.
And that's just what we did.
We followed Jesus, teacher, kind.
We launched a whole new life
And left our boats behind.
