Try Again
Let down your nets
To catch some fish!
Do as I say--
That's my wish.
I'm tired, Lord,
I'm a fisherman,
We worked all night,
And didn't catch one.
(It doesn't make sense.
We've already tried,
There's just no fish,
My thoughts replied.)
Tired fisherman,
You're my friend,
But right now,
Your will must bend.
All right, my Lord,
I'll do as you say,
But I rather doubt
There's fish in the day
When I worked so long,
All night through
And didn't catch any,
Not even a few.
Here goes the net, Lord,
I'm letting it down--
(Oh, my aching back--
Hope he doesn't see my frown.)
My aching back!
The net's getting full!
Hey, friends over there,
Come help me pull!
The Lord told me to do it,
I obeyed His word.
Though I doubted inside
I did what I heard.
I was tired and frustrated.
I thought that I knew
The right way to fish,
The best thing to do.
But He wanted to teach me
His word to obey.
When you've failed in the night
Try His way in the day.
