Comments | Given the task of looking after Waysides first Under 8 team along with Karl McCabe. Handed a squad of about 30 players, of which only ten players could play every week! But from the start some were beginning to stand out more than others. Quickly noticed the talent of Sean O'Connor, and Neil Mulvey, two players which he would build his team around. Also had the attacking brilliance of Jake Kelly, and great defensive qualities of Karl Lennon, who would later become known as "Captain Fantastic". After a few unlucky results in his first few matches, things began to gel, and soon enough they were up towards the top of the table. It was at this stage Adrian "Whacker" Nolan handed him the number of a player called Conor Tiernan who was interested in joining. Having such a big squad of players already, he was a bit wary about calling him, but did, and it turned out to be a great move! Not only did he get Conor, he also got his father Terry on board, who has taken over Karls role since he left for the states. It was from this team the backbone of the current team came.Ciaran is enjoying a great season without Karls interfering!!! In his charge they have already won 7 of their 8 games in the league, and have knocked the Mighty St.Josephs out of the cup. Ciaran, like Karl, demands 110% from every player, and likes the team to play their football on the ground. Tries to encourage the lads to "keep your head up!", when on the ball. Also likes to see attacking football, and believes attack is the best form of defence. "I'd love to win this league and show Karly that he was the problem all along!!!" |
