Weyrleader B'rin's Persona Sheet

Played by: Krista

Name: B'rin
Age: 41
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Rank: Weyrleader

Physical/Personality Description: B'rin may be 41, and with his constant goings and comings and worryings, one may expect him to at least look his age, but B'rin is actually very health conscience, and as a result looks to be in his mid to lower thirties.  He has a bit of a receding hairline, and a little grey speckling the outer ages of his hair, but for the most part he still has the bold, dark brown hair.  B'rin is always working hard, and always seems to be showing some sort of sign of fatigue or stress, and has some deep lines on his brow to note that, yet his brown eyes are always alert, his posture always impeccable, his movements always swift.  He may be a busy man, but he doesn’t allow himself to be too busy to miss much, or to let things catch him off guard.  He can’t afford it, really.  His demanding authority, his way of changing about leadership positions to make them exactly how he wants them, his hard-hammering words on those who he finds in need of rebuke have been enough to earn him quite a bit of resentment from some of the riders at the Weyr.  B'rin DOES have a sense of humor, and CAN show himself to be friendly, but even those times he seems to be an old, hide-bounded, stubborn man.  Until a person gets to spend some time with B'rin, that person may very well be scared of, resent, or annoyed by B'rin.  Those who have actually sat down with him for a bit of lunch, or actually managed to catch him taking care of Telenth out in a common pool find that he’s not actually out to eat every man alive, but is just extremely concerned with his Weyr, and sometimes just forgets to relax enough to show his riders that he can, indeed, be more than a disciplinarian.

Family: Children at Ista Weyr. Extended family at Ista Hold.

History:
B'rin had a normal life as a kid, his parents did well as harper teachers. His family was rather close-knit. B'rin was eighteen when he was searched by a great blue dragon, and it was something that had come as a shock to him.  After some indecision, he decided to go for it, if only to help further his studies as a harper and diplomat. B'rin impressed the sole bronze of the clutch.
Turns passed. B'rin continued his harper studies where he could and eventually handfasted to a young woman, Nareya. They had children to which he remained relatively close to. B'rin moved up in ranks and was directly under the weyrlingmaster when his oldest son impressed, also to a bronze, and it was B'rin who had charge over his son’s weyrling group.  It was B'rin who led the group on their first /between/ trip which somehow lost half of the weyrlingclass, including his boy.
Less than a sevenday later, B'rin was shipped off the Lirac Weyr, without his remaining family members.  Fortunately or unfortunately, B'rin didn’t have much time to consider these things.  It was only eight seven-days later that Wayward’s only queen rose for the last time and Telenth was the one to catch her, essentially giving B'rin a permanent place as Weyrleader.  He immediately set about drowning his sorrows and significantly lowered self-concept in trying to improve the Weyr.
Seven turns, B'rin had been the undisputed Weyrleader, and had been relatively successful.  Oh, he was bitten several times by dishonest riders, and had to learn to balance between trusting nothing, yet risking anyway.  He had to figure out how to motivate lazy riders and see through lies.  He had to learn that with some brutish riders, one simply had to fight fire with fire.  He learned that community meant nothing unless structure was enforced.  People died mysteriously, and B'rin had to learn that the most brotherly of folk were murderers at heart.  B'rin had to learn exactly HOW to fit the mentally and physically handicapped into a working unit.  Work he did, and long candlemarks with very little contact out side of disciplinary actions and work-related interactions made him tougher than a dragon's hide.
B'rin knows Braylen Weyr’s riders and inner workings. He has people placed exactly where he wants them, and honestly is a bit frightened about inviting another goldrider into the ranks. He will go as far as to suggest a closed flight, but it doesn't seem like the Weyrs of Pern will agree to allowing B'rin to continuing "dishonoring" the Weyrs with his "horrible" leadership, as the outside world views it.

Dragon Info

Dragon Name: Telenth
Age: 22
Color: Bronze
Hatched at: Ista Weyr
Physical/Personality Description: Telenth is just slightly larger than the normal bronze dragon, but his hide is such a dull and light bronze color, that if it wasn’t for his size, he could almost be mistaken for brown.  Only his eye ridges, and the areas outlining his bones in his wings, and his knee and claw joints, show a really solid, bronze color.  Unlike B'rin, Telenth is a friendly fellow.  He’ll chat with just about any dragon. He shows a remarkable ability for new ideas, but very few dragons can get Telenth off of superficial subjects. He’s very good about asking B'rin if its OK to say something about what B'rin is doing before actually saying so, although he has slipped on occasion.   He’s a good dragon, without much trace of suspicion, fear, or malice to even those who B'rin seems to despise.  But when he has to, Telenth can command quite an air of authority, and not many dragons like to cross him.

Pets:

Name: Claws
Age: some 3 turns
Specie: feline
Physical/Personality description: Claws is a small creature, not the smallest of domesticated felines, but still a little and delicate one.  She has short, brown hair and yellow eyes.  She’s loving to those she knows, but a bit skiddish otherwise.  Her favorite thing in the world is B'rin’s lap, and for some reason she’s rather fond of smelling ink.  But she’s a normal cat, in every way.
