You enormous orb of fire
painting a summer sunset
of meandering vaporous rivers and irradiated ribbons of evening
that explode
across the sky in furious
yet gentle strokes.Your canvas: Fiery cold.
Your brushes: Burning steel.
What dazzle and beauty you create
however fleeting:
night erases your canvas behind you
as you travel on to paint for others.In heavenly darkness,
in morning glory and noontide,
I anxiously await your return.
