The Soul’s Expression through Music

Music: The art of combining tones to form EXPRESSIVE compositions.
Music drifts in the air… one song after another… and then, there’s one that reaches a part of you, way down deep, and you like it. Which brings me to a “thinking session” on music…
There are those of us who can make music, there are those of us who can play music, and then there are those of us who can just appreciate music. Maybe not just the music in itself, but the music joined with the words of someone’s soul, and the union of both creates in us a likenship to the artists. It’s amazing how you can find a song to match ANY particular mood or thought you may be feeling. The thoughts that pride, or common sense forbid us to voice. We can listen to the song, and completely relate. And as I pick a song that is speaking the words that I can’t, or won’t, say, I wonder to myself who else in this world of ours is hearing this same song right at this same moment and thinking of how that song is saying precisely what they can’t. The common thread amongst us all as a human race, is music. It frees our thoughts from merely being contained in our heads. We sing the words that we are feeling without “giving away” that these are our thoughts. We can get away with it, because it is, after all, just a song. There’s a song to put words to the tears that drench your pillow case. There’s a song to put words to the memories in your head. There’s a song to put words to feelings stirred up in your soul. There’s a song to put words to the pride you can’t swallow. There’s a song to put words to every emotion you feel. And then, it is true, that “music cleanses the spirit and moves the soul.”
