CODE OF BEHAVIOUR


Our goal is to develop students who are polite, self-disciplined, responsible, sensitive to others, and proud of their learning accomplishments and the successes of others.  We believe that parents are our partners in promoting the development of self-discipline and appropriate behaviour.

Students have the right to:
A safe environment
A meaningful education
An atmosphere of respect, free from harassment, bullying and fear
With these rights come responsibilities.

Students are expected to:
Attend regularly and arrive for class on time
Dress in accordance with the Appropriate Dress Code
Show respect and courtesy by using appropriate behaviour and language to staff, students, and visitors
Respect school property, personal property, and the property of others
Play safely and ensure the safety of others
Move about the school in a quiet, orderly manner


Respect and respond to rules and routines in the school, on the bus, and during field trips
Demonstrate a commitment to learning by participating in class activities, completing assigned work and seeking clarification when needed
Support the learning process of others
Learn to accept and appreciate individual differences
Develop a sense of self-discipline and self-respect

Consequences

Students who demonstrate the behaviour and attitudes identified in the Code will experience and enjoy:
Positive learning and growth in self-confidence
Rewarding relationships with others
A variety of rewards, recognitions, and celebrations


Students who do not follow the expectations identified by this Code will receive consequences such as:
Parental contact and involvement (note/phone/meeting)
Detentions  
Exclusion from optional activities
Withdrawal of privileges
Restitution for damages
Student exclusion temporarily from class or voluntary withdrawal from class or school
Suspension from school

SAFE SCHOOLS POLICY

Belief Statement: We will maintain safe schools by developing both intervention and prevention programs.

The Safe Schools Act, 2000, the Education Act, and the Ontario Code of Conduct set out the standards for student behaviour and specify the consequences for student actions that do not comply with those standards.
