Worcester Bariatric Surgery Support Group
Here you will find suggestions for items to purchase or at least have in the house before you go in for your surgery date.
List for
before surgery:
(from Sharron Ducimo) 1. Get an appt. with Lisa Van Dusen (508- 856-3479) for 3 weeks after surgery 2. Get CIB no added sugar in the flavor you like 3. Get protein powder 4. Get sugar-free jello in desired flavors 5. Get boullion 6. Get some spiritual reading and stsart using it before surgery and pack it for the hospital 7. Build a network of experienced people so you have people when questions develop and call them before surgery to start building relationships...its hard to call someone for the first time in the midst of a problem or crisis 8. Pack a bathrobe, slippers, tooth brush (the hospital has them, but I swear they're made of wire,) shampoo and a good novel to read. If you're a tv fan, take enough money to pay for 3-4 days (I think its $2.50-3.50/day.) 9. Get into therapy before surgery. You prepare your body for surgery, and it is essential to prepare your spirit too. The surgery doesn't cure overeating, it only prevents your body in some ways. You will have a very difficult time if you don't try to heal your whole self. 10. Talk with whoever you live with about the surgery and the help you will physically need after you get home. Remind them that having some of your favorite foods in front of you may cause a great deal of stress right after surgery. 11. Become a prayerful person. Find a higher power and communicate with Him/Her frequently. 12. Practice being grateful. Make a gratitude list, add to it and read it often! 13. Know that we are all wishing you well and will help however we can. |
