Debs Prowse

In a former life Debs was for eleven years a slave to the evil entity called Camden Council. After chewing through her bonds one fortuitous day, when the wicked district manager, Bonny (how ineptly named she was), was busy making some poor tenant’s life a misery and therefore wasn’t watching, Debs ran away and made a new life for herself in Heaven, aka North Wales.
Apart from being the editor of Welsh Bands Weekly, Debs works full time for the UK’s leading internet payment service provider. If she happens to get any spare time she spends this looking after her boyfriend, daughter, three cats and a dog, organising gigs, updating the website, selling Welsh music by mail order and plotting to end the monopoly that certain music publications think they have on band news. She is also trying to find time to learn Italian and Spanish. She has got as far as “Come se dice in italiano?” and “quisiero albondigas pero no hay papel hygienico”.

Debs’ biggest passion in life is Super Furry Animals, and she hit upon the idea for Welsh Bands Weekly in 1997 after yet another NME/Melody Maker article in which the band were described as leek munching, sheep shagging, mushroom-imbibing weirdos.

Apart from SFA, Debs’ favourite bands at the moment are Nar, Anweledig, Pep Le Pew, Teflon Monkey, Evans and MC Mabon.

Debs’ biggest ambition is to win the lottery and buy a huge building in North Wales which will house a music venue, record label, recording studio, promotions company, several magazines, several websites and a printing press.

The thought that this ambition is not entirely impossible is what keeps her going.
