Red Ribbon week is in October and WCCRAD will be sponsoring our 3rd annual walk-a-thon fund raiser. Flyers will be posted at local businesses in September with information on the date, time, place, who to contact and where to pick up registration forms.
WCCRAD will be raffling off a 2004 Ford Focus ZTS on January 3, 2004. Blueberry Ford in Machias has given WCCRAD the opportunity to purchase the car at cost for a fund raiser. Tickets will available the first of July and can be purchased from the WCCRAD table at the Blueberry Festival in Machias on August 16th. Price: $5.00 ea. or 3 for $10.00.
*Further information about where tickets can be purchased will be posted at a later date.WCCRAD held a successful yard/bake sale in June raising approximately $350.00. Much thanks and appreciation to the Jacksonville Methodist Church for providing us the place to hold our sale at no cost. Also, to each person that donated generously their baked goods and/or items and time. We are planning another sale in the fall and will be collecting items over the summer.
The executive director from Bangor's Wellspring Rehabilitation was our guest speaker in May. Pat shared with us the program Wellspring offers to support recovering addicts and help them to become productive members in society again. They have a 13 bed inpatient women's home, a 15 bed inpatient men's home and they also run an out-patient program. Members of WCCRAD expressed interest to visit Wellspring at a later date and we were welcomed to do so.
