The Western Canadian Farrier Association is a non-profit association, formed in 1983. Our main purpose is “to organize farriers for the promotion of excellence in the art and science of farriery”. The WCFA is governed by a constitution and by-laws, and a membership is on a yearly basis. The WCFA is not only an association concerned with farriers, but also everyone in the horse industry, aiming to inform the public, and particularly the horse owner, of the quality and standard of farrier service that is available.
The WCFA strives to improve the standards within the farrier industry, defining, maintaining and improving the quality of craftsmanship and service within the profession. The WCFA serves as a vehicle for communication within the farrier industry, particularly in Western Canada. The association organizes and holds clinics, workshops, contests, and seminars, with various communities, farrier colleges and veterinarians among those involved. A newsletter is published every two months, providing members with information about current and upcoming events and other items and articles of interest.
The benefits of belonging to the WCFA are manifold. By becoming a member, your contacts in the business are increased, especially through direct participation in workshops, clinics and the like. The WCFA provides a meeting place within the farrier industry in Western Canada, where knowledge, skills, and techniques can be shared and friendships can be forged. As a member, you are given the opportunity to voice your opinions and have them heard by your peers, in the newsletter, at the General Meeting, or both. As a member, you are kept up to date on the most recent products, industry news, and upcoming events through the Canadian Farrier Connection and the WCFA newsletter. As a member, you are part of what is happening in the growing and changing farrier profession. We need you ! Support our effort to build a strong sense of professional unity among the farriers of Western Canada.
