Unto The Populace of The Western Region, An Tir;

At South Sound Unity Tourney, the Kingdom Heralds in the Western Region volunteered to help the region come up with a registerable name & badge. The purpose behind this effort is to help encourage the development of a collective identity for the region. Also, if at some time in the future the region should wish to advance in status, a registerable name would be necessary.
WE, THE WESTERN REGION, NOW HAVE A BADGE! This was voted on at the Regional Curia on November 22, 1998/AS XXXII held in Tacoma, Washington at 2:00pm PST.
It is as follows: [Fieldless] A cross of four ermine spots conjoined Gules.

Three cheers for the Region!

Your suggestions are urgently needed. This affects all of us living in the Western Region, and everyone is invited to participate in coming up with a regional name.

A regional name must conform to period place naming practices. Most place names mentiones some sort of geographical feature (a hill, a boundary, a town, a swamp) and modified it with an adjective to help distinguish it from all the other like geographical features: A cliff (which is white), a wood (with deer living in it), a farm (belonging to Beorn). They were not poetic or metaphorical, they were for everyday use and meant just what they said.

If you have any more ideas on what the region's name should be, please provide your ideas by May Crowne 1999 to:

Names : Countess Elisabeth de Rossignol, AEstel Herald

(The text from the above letter was edited to fit the need of the Western Region Name Search, as we have -- as of 11/22/98 -- decided/voted on the badge submissions, the deleted text is no longer applicable.)
