Business Meeting Minutes

3/18/99- Meeting started at 7:10 pm, with 22 people present, 8 more arrived later. There were 2 visitors, and 2 smalls. Roswitha has run across 8-9 copies of Viking Congress papers on the Norse in the British Isles. if interested in seeing , contact Roswitha.

Their Excellencies report: lsabeau not present. Yusuf received e-mail from someone in Gig Harbor regarding assistance with school project. Pisi and others have been in contact with the gentle.

Seneschal: Pyotr got together with Fenneag regarding her position. She’s doing excellent job. . Contract with Riverglen still in negotiations.

OFFICERS

Seneschal: Contract has been signed with RiverGlen. Pyotr has copies. Autocrats need copies of the contract. Road has been gravelled.

Herald: 6 submissions in: Fred (sorry, I didn’t get the whole name), Diana, Sgt. Garrett, 2 baronial awards. Will be discussed at April’s Lion’s Blood meeting. Rohan willl be holding Heraldry meetings on third Saturday of the month, beginning in April, at his house.

Marshalate:Tuesday’s Fighter practice excellent, and getting large. Missed last Sunday’s practice due to 18th wedding anniversary. Sunday’s still at Spanaway Elementary, 1 PM to whenever.

Archery: Diana and the Boeing group are looking at getting Boeing Archery Range for practice on Tuesday.

Fenneag:Thanks to all who take care of Baronial pavilion. If we want the pavilion at May Crown in Omak, we need people to take it, set it up, take it down, etc. Castle repairs: castle needs major refurbishing, need volunteers to organize and run work parties, survey the repairs, estimate cost and supervise work.

Contract for Social Night for Pyotr to sign: Social nights are: 1st Wednesdays of April, May and June at Fife Community Center.

Chronicler: 69 copies mailed out, including 11 comps. 2 subscription renewals. $50 contributed to Johan Fund, total now $100. Fund for 1st time subscribers, or for one renewal after a several month lapse., for those in financial need. Fund will contribute $5 per subscription.

Chirurgeon: No activity

Chamberlain: No report.

Chatelaine: Newcommer Althing is coming up, and is not just for newcommer’s. Rob Roy Demo: there has been some miscommunication. All attending must pay $25 to get in. See Pisi for fliers. Norwescon is Easter weekend. 8 people have contacted Pisi about joing. Request from Kent Girl Scout troup asking us to do something for them.

Lord Defenders: Maeve autocrating, Gold Key/Chatelaine/and Pied Piper will combine tables: Need 2-3 people at the one area. Contact Alexandra if you can volunteer.

Events: Not Just for Newcomer’s Althing:4/24-4/25. 1 ot 2 classes will be running at a time. 2 day full metal jacket stitch & bitch. William will do class on SCA cooking: for fun and serious research.

Laura Crookshank tendered resignation as Biffycrat (for the summer?). Need either volunteers or autocrats will have to do it themselves. Thanks to Laura for a wonderful job.

Business Meeting January 21, 1999,

Meeting started at 7:06 pm, about 25 people present

Their Excellencies reported that a follow up forum will be held on Jan. 28 at Lakewood Community Center from 7-9 PM. It's important, Baron & baroness will be giving feedback. Address is 9112 Lakewood Drive SW, between Steilacom Blvd & 100th.

It was suggested that fighters might want to look at pages 10-15 of the ABC's.

Given our educational status, how many have done a demo, taught a class, etc. in last 3 months? Stronghold feast went very well. It was suggested that officers and aurocrats might want to make use of our contact at Office Max in Tacoma (see the Chronicler).

Business:

At 12th night, Maeve had a birthday party, Alessandra elevated to Laurel.

Maggie Longtooth is in the hospital for cancer surgery. Send cards, but no balloons.

At last forum people wanted time to socialize at baronial meeting, so meeting will be kept short.

Officers: Fennig: Curently have $9000 ($200 is Strongholds). Policy on advances, per Kingdom: will need to give full name, address & Social Security number. If advance money is not reconciled in 60 days, IRS will count it as income for the individual receiving the advance. Domesday report should be out by the end of the month.

A&S: Meeting went well, February meeting, see Blatherings.

Marshall's: Denis wants to step down. Need someone at journeyman level to take his place. Fighter's practice Sunday at Larchmont. Will be there until 1:30.

Herald: No report.

Chirurgeon: All quiet. Knowne Worlde Chirurgeon Symposium Oct 23-25. Boy Scout camp in Deception Pass.

Chatelain: Short fighting demo on Feb 7th at McMurry Middle School, Vashon Island. Contact Pisi. Will include feast with the kids. We have been asked to mingle in the lobby at the Rob Roy Highland Ball at Shereton Convention Center April 17. Merchants welcome: Celtic stuff only, Celtic persona only.

Gold Key: Aowen (?) wants pavilion and castle for June faire. He will transport and set up. $50 & $50 cleaning fee to be charged.

Chamberlain: Report in Blatherings

Stronghold Chatelain: doing pretty good: not a lot of new people due to military rotations, etc. Feast went well.

Stronghold A&S Class coming up. Field & Book Heraldry in Feb & March. Working on list of teachers & classes wanted.

Seneschal's report: End of reporting cycle. All officers need to get reports in to Kingdom

Events: Calender for next year locked in with Crier & Orting. Need autocrats.

Newcomer's Althing: Normanna Hall. April 24-25. Contact Isabeau or Fennig with what classes you would like. A&S round table: Bring your pretties to show off and discuss.

Old Business: Sebastian taking over Rapier marshallate. Cadet to Diana. All Officers: need drop dead deputies & deputies to train as your replacements. Reminder of open offices.

Meeting started at 7:00 pm, with 18 people present, including 1 small.

Meeting to be short due to snafu with room reservations.

Their Excellencies report: Isabeau will be going to Western Regional Feast Saturday. Lots of Blatha AN Oirans performing there.

Yusuf encourages all households to get their members to Newcommers Althing recommended that if you are bringing newcommers to their first event, hand them Forward into the Past, available from Chatelain and many merchants. Need junior grade marshalls. Please consider training for this.

Gold Key: has bought some fabric for t-tunics to replace missing garb. Cloaks and fabric needed: donations welcome!

Constable: Please check your warrants with Anne to confirm them. Next Tuesday at Stronghold: Basic, Bare-bones Constabulary class, 7pm Nelson Rec center. Handbooks will be for sale then.

A&S: Special meeting at Sara Bonneville's 7pm. Topic: Falconry. A Harris Hawk will be present.

Marshallate: Rapier will be at Stronghold next Tuesday. Fighter practice still at Spanaway Elementary.

Baron Moonshadow and another member presented Baroness Isabeau with two squeaky laurels and pot of daffodils. Ricardo is in country.

Chamberlain: Looking for new angles on cleaning tent.

Fenneag: Has copies of year end report. Have always shared proceeds of Autumn War with opponents. Proposed sending $1,000 to principality. Seconded/Passed. Suggestion to present at next Coronet.

Chirurgeon: All quiet

Baron Moonshadow: Sunday fight practice went well. Stronghold practice: 5 in armor, 3 rapiers from Glym Mere.

Events:

Vashon Island Boy Scout demo: went very well

Not Just for Newcommer's Althing: Barek and Lao and someone else (didn't catch the name) teaching boffer/ whale bone tourney. Someone/s needed to teach adults how to do children's activities run armor workshop. All day A&S forum. Stew(?), dessert/snack potluck and bardic afterwards.

Lord Defenders/Robin Hood Days: Karle Redstone doing heavies. Need archery & Rapier scenarios. Aowen & Connel: Siege cooking.

Sergantry: Walrum reported next meeting will be to greet candidates at Walrum's Sat. march 14 from 1-5. Bring your inspirations, if you want.

New Business:

Sara Trying to find a site for dance and stitch & bitch, etc. Fife community center available for $20/hr. Will try 3 month trial.

Isabeau: Rohan sent check to Chronicler: $50 to help people afford subscriptions: $5 per person. Rohan Foundation grant of $5 per/subscription. See Chronicler for grant if you need one. Pyotr will add $50 to cover $5 for 10 more people.

Honey War Belly dance competition-includes prize for best male dancer.

Sponsorship of Crier front page Barony will send $100 donation to Crier.

Need proposals for post-meeting site for socializing.
