Minutes as taken and rendered by your servant,
It was a bitter cold even when all we gathered at Newhall for a fine sup of turkey vegetable soup, various grand viands, and not too little holiday cheer. Ostensibly we were drawn to this place for the monthly business meeting of the good Canton of Porte de l’Eau, but much more than that it was a chance to eat heartily, learn of what would transpire and what had already happened of import, and converse with friends near and dear.
The meeting was called to order by the Seneschal at 7:35. Business got underway with the Canton Officer’s reports. The Seneschal had much to impart to the company. Firstly that Svenn’s Valhalla was a smashing success, or at least quite a bit of fun. Sheep tossing, twillsy-wop, and cheesy Viking movies were enjoyed by all. Svenn held forth in twillsy-wop, defeating all corners. Inga and Svenn gave him some stiff competition. Svenn won the sheep toss with a throw of 4 1/2 ells. Svenn came in second with a toss of 4 ells. And Inga threw a resounding third with a toss of not quite 4 ells. Oder Inosvendammit and Mina Notinga put on a fine repast with much dead pig and moldy goat’s milk. Good Glog Mina! The evening closed out with a rousing nerf storming of the Hall. Many Svenns and Ingas gave their lives. January 2nd is the Last Court of Baron Traehearn and Baroness Janelyn. Court will be held at the Masonic Hall in Bellevue, with a potluck post-revel to be held at Newhall.
Heavy fighters can get their certification cards at Twelfth Night. The Feast of Saint Bunstable, the Patron Saint of the Barony of Madrone, sponsored by the College of Saint Bunstable, will be held January 16th at Camp Long in West Seattle.
Baronial Banquet will be held March 6th at the American Legion Halt in Renton. We will be celebrating the History of Madrone. Day of Dance: Art Gecko Ball, will be March 13th, at Kennydale Hall. Mylisant is the Autocrat.
The Ermine Cross Bardic (Western Regional Bardic) will be held on March 27 - 28th. I have no idea where this is being held. I think I will be a little busy at the time.
The Master of Stables, Gryphon Savage, reported that everyone is showing up as usual to the Thursday night fight practice. No injuries had befallen participants. Everyone is gearing up for Ursulmas. There were several new corners and they are working on getting them into helms and armor.
The Exchequer, Gwyneviere (assisted by Leopold von Elchenwald) reports that we still have money. She will work on getting checks to those people who have turned in receipts as soon as possible. No reports from the Chatelaine, Mylisant de Sandeforthe, or the Herald, Adric Dusquesne. It was quite an icky and snowy night—so presumably they were all snug at home.
The Mistress of Arts & Sciences, Susan Paraventur, reported that she had a good turnout for the Norse Decorating Workshop. Everyone had a lot of fun decorating the little Svenns and many stayed for the after-revel (see Svenn’s Valhalla above). She is planning on talking to Adrianna the Fierce about a silk painting workshop for January 23rd.
Gwendolyn of Castle Court, the Canton scribe, reported that they worked on charters for the new Baron and Baroness at the last scribal. There will be no scribal meeting in January—due to Twelfth Night. Gwendolyn will be stepping up as Baronial Scribe. The Chief Archer for the Canton, Laurencia de St. Germain, was reported to be doing well following her operation. She did not expect archery practice to be taking place until such a time, as the range was less soggy.
Officers’ Reports were followed by events.
Gwyneviere reported that Svenn’s Valhalla went very well. There was good food, good sport, good company, and good god-awful Viking movies in surround sound and vision. She also noted that Stuart made a very attractive Inga.
There was no report for Day of Dance, but look toward seeing copy in an upcoming Crier.
We will hold the first Joint-North-South-Canton event and social on February 5tI~• Contact Moyra-of-the-Meadows, or Aedla for more information.
Finally we were reminded that Estrella War would be February 12th and encouraged to attend.
The meeting came to a close in record time.
Thus ends the minutes as rendered by your servant, Christophe.
Seneschale - What a fine turn out. Probably because of polling tonight.
Chatelaine - More people coming to Canton stuff. New fighters as well.
Herald - Would like $12.00 for Internal Letter of Intent as the online armorial is down. So I have no report.
Exchequer - Exchequing continues in the Canton. Getting Gwenivere up to speed. Bank all squared away with change.
A.& S- Everyone show up to Sven’s pre-decorating social on 11-28 to make sure all our ducks are lined up.
Chief Archer - Season still closed until it stops raining and the land dries up. Probably next Spring, really.
Master of 5tables - Fighting continues in the Canton. Several new folks. Would be nice if we could to get loaner equipment and hand-be-down stuff. Open to doing more social stuff on Thursday for those who accompany fighters. Will look into getting a classroom.
Scriptorium — There will be something in December. Watch canton list for more details.

Webmaster — Thinking of redesigning.
Williamsgate - Dwindling but expected to rise with return of our representative.
