Contract Developer June 2003 – Dec. 2003
Assisted in several development efforts including a rebuild of the Shopping Cart, a reporting tool for wine.com affiliates, a caching mechanism desired to reduce database requests, and a configurator utility which would swap out shopping cart items when a customer switched states. The majority of the development was done in ASP, but the affiliate reporting tool was developed using Microsoft .Net in C#. Also assisted in troubleshooting and debugging code defects on the site, and helped streamline the code deployment process.

Senior Consultant Sept. 1999 – Feb. 2003
Senior consultant in Dimension Data’s Application Development Group. Tasked as an application architect and lead developer working with various technologies, including Java, Microsoft’s DNA and .Net Frameworks, as well as Web Services. As a technical lead, responsibilities included providing the architecture and framework for an application as well as providing technical guidance to other team members. As a lead consultant, acted as a communications medium between clients and project management.

Hired as an independent contractor to assist in application deployment development. Tasks include developing installation scripts for domestic and international application rollout. Rollout package included various upgrades, patches, and new installations for both Microsoft NT Servers and Workstations.
WinStar Professional Services / LANSystems San Francisco, CA
Systems Engineer Aug. 1996 – March 1999
WinStar Professional Services was a consulting firm specializing in network integration and Knowledge Management Solutions. The Knowledge Management Systems include a document management system consisting of a File Server and SQL Database, as well as email and desktop faxing abilities. Other tasks included the design of local and wide area network infrastructure to support the system design, server and client workstation builds, and application integration between the software.
Experience Summary
  • Assisted in redesigning and developing Shopping Cart for wine.com. Streamlined the checkout process, making it easier for users to make purchases. Updated the process to better handle shipping state changes so less items were dropped from the cart.
  • Designed and developed an affiliate reporting tool that allowed wine.com affiliates to track purchases made off their site. The tool allowed for roll based security so that the affiliate party could add users on their own without wine.com assistance. The tool was developed using the .Net framework and written in C#.
  • Assisted in the development effort for a client/server prototype built in .NET technologies. The prototype was built using Microsoft’s .NET IDE and was written in C#. This effort focused on the ability to build reusable, independent components within .NET. Each member of the development team was tasked to build unique user controls and components that would then be used within a master application.
  • Lead the development effort for integrating a document management system with an Intranet portal application. This was a Microsoft based, multi-tier application, using standard ASP and COM+ components. Included in this effort was communicating with third party developers and the document management application support team for troubleshooting several environment and performance issues.
  • Lead developer and architect for developing a custom content management system for a Mortgage Broker site. The primary purpose of this system was to allow site authors to quickly update content on their site in the easiest way possible. This was a Java based, two tier application residing on an iPlanet Web Server.
  • Lead developer and site architect for a Microsoft based prototype web site. The primary purpose of this prototype was to feature Microsoft's back-end server technology, integrate several disparate systems, and feature some minimal multichannel technology. This prototype was developed using Windows 2000 Active Directory, XML and XSL, SOAP and Web Services, MS Exchange 2000, MS BizTalk 2000, MS SQL 2000, and Oracle 8i. The prototype supported both the standard HTML browser as well as some WML browsers.
  • Lead the development effort for incorporating security and personalization services, using Microsoft Site Server, for a Business to Consumer real estate web site. The application was a Microsoft based, multi-tier solution, built using standard ASP and COM+ components.
  • Assisted in the implementation of a Knowledge Management system and workstation rollout at a 200+ law firm, utilizing Microsoft's Back Office Suite, PC DOCS DOCSOpen document management software, Interface InterAction contact management software, and Carpe Diem time tracking software.
