Born in 1969 in South London before moving up to Norwich and UEA in 1987 to read French and German. His main academic interests are French and German politics and society though his real passion is all things Swiss, Austrian and Liechtensteinian, though he does confess to a passing interest in French Literature.

He also studied at the Université de Lausanne where he wrote a dissertation on Swiss foreign policy and in 1991-92 spent a year in Liechtenstein teaching English. Ever since, though he divides his time between Norwich and Cannes with the odd trip to Hamburg and Vaduz thrown in.

Other interests include travel, internet, cinema, French society, German dialects and reading the Upper 6's UCAS forms.
