Rate of growth indicated by EFL is not the same for advancing growth or declining growth.
Every so often it is necessary to know PGC Positive Growth Charteristic or Negative Growth Charteristic. This is the positive EFL or negative EFL for positive growth factors, negative growth factors, also percent growth. On a spreadsheet, filtering can be used to separate the positive growth from the negative growth. That thing called a "conditional" is used to do the filtering. For the positive growth factors and positive percent growth, the average is taken for all positive growth of the time frame. Then the average is divided into the greatest biggest positive growth factor or percent growth. This form of EFL is called the PGC. On the negative side, the average is taken for all the negative growth factors and negative percent growth of the same time frame. The average is then divided into the biggest number with a negative sign in front of it. The resultant EFL is call the NGC. The time frames are those 5 big letters of time: DWMQY, Daily, Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly, Yearly. PGC and NGC are most useful for the investment industry. PGC for advancing markets and NGC for declining markets.
