D. J. Bouwsma recieved an Associates of Arts degree with honors from Miami Dade Community College and a Certificate of Computer Programming in 1976, He received a Baccalaureate of Science degree in Computer Science from Calvin College in 1980, and graduated with honors from Westminster Theological Seminary with both a Master's of Arts in Religion and a Master's of Divinity in 1987.

He, subsequently, worked for 3 years as Assistant Director of the Board Walk Chapel of the Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Wildwood New Jersey, 1 year as Director of Data processing for Transcontinental Resorts Group and for over 15 years as Computer Instructor for Westminster Christian School. He currently holds the copyright for Mastery, a biofeedback learning program. In addition to his instructional duties, he maintains and operates the Westminster Computer Lab and After Care Center, develops systems and application software for Westminster Christian School, sponsers the Chess Club and teaches an on campus exegetical Bible Study
