Iosogen Lake Camp

Whitecourt, Venturers

Well we met at the scout hall at about 5:30pm to take off to Fox Creeks Iosogen Lake campground. On the way there we listened to Celebrity Jeopardy which to say the least was hilarious. We laughed and talked about it for the whole weekend. By the way “You guys selling penis mightiers?” LOL. Well we finally got to the camp and attempted to get setup. Some of us were a little testy; we just seemed to have shortage of patience. We had to teach some of the newbies how to lash; yet we were still unsuccessful. That’s okay, we didn’t know how to do so either at that age. But we will conquer such feats as these.

Well we finally got the camp set up, with Derek’s Hammock, The Lean-To and Vickie’s as usual tent. We had a short Mug up and went to bed.

The next day we didn’t wake up any earlier than we had to, I think it was 10 am. All I know is it was not early at all. So then we got up, our faithful Venture Hans found an old washer and cooked us up some good old water for Oatmeal. We finally dragged our butt’s outta bed to go and have something to eat. Soon after we did an opening of the camp before Vickie left for town. We then cleaned up camp and the site, soon after that we had planned on going on a hike, but we decided we would wait for Allister to come and he could join us in our walk of life. He soon got there and we were able to go and hike around, we found some cool things, Scott was mostly looking for moss on trees, and the rest of us were exploring. We walked for quite awhile and then got to what looked like some ones home and then turned back to camp. We got back to camp and decided to amuse ourselves with Hans’s slingshot, it worked quite well. Then John broke a bottle with a mouse in it, man the smell. We thought we had found, well we had no idea what it could have been. So yeah we shot for a while after that. Then we decided that we should clean up and build a campfire for the “Formal Campfire” that was supposed to take place with the scouts in the evening. So we did all that. We decided it was about time for supper so we had cheeseburgers, which I tell you were way better then the ones at snow days, except for the fact that Hans didn’t cook them the whole way through. But we all lived so he couldn’t have done that bad. We all agreed to attempt to play a game of capture the flag, which Matt had set up earlier. So we did it went pretty well except for the fact of all the thorns. Yeah, if you want more detail just ask Derek about it he I am sure will have a way better story to tell. I’ll let you guys confront him on that. Well we finished that with well-moistened shoes and well thorned arms, legs head and well pretty much the whole body.

Soon after we finished we had some much needed water and snacks. It was well appreciated. Then after that we decided to try our new found bear pole, which was quite effective for getting it up there, now down was to be found out the next day. After we did that our scout people from Fox Creek showed up. We had some sweet times shooting off the “Spud Gun” he he. It was the bomb; until the lid thingy got so sticky it wouldn’t come off anymore. So we then called it quits for the night and headed for our formal campfire, which went pretty good. We did a few skits and stuff, Derek and Matt did a celebrity Who Wants to Be a Millionaire. It was pretty good considering it was our first time doing it. So we then sung Kumby Ya to finish off our evening, we said our good byes and stuff, then had a quick mug up with jello and cookies. Matt found, to say the least a quite painful sliver in his hand, it took quite a while with Derek’s tweezers to figure out that I can’t get it out LOL, so he gave up and went to bed.

We all had good sleeps last night, you know considering we didn’t get outta 10:30 am. Who cares it was a good sleep I tell you, besides Vickie didn’t get there until 1:30ish anyhow, so it was all good. We had a lunch and stuff, did a major camp clean up so if we ever decided to come back we could use the camp again. We did that, now I tell you it was nice and clean after we cracked the whip, after that we did closing and finished packing the stuff up, like our Lean-To and Derek’s Hammock. Not to mention our packs as well. The new scouters seem to have enjoyed themselves and have decided they prolly will come back next year which we really don’t want cause well Ventures sucks. LOL. We headed home and enjoyed a pretty good camp.

The End
