Pictures from Memorial Day Ceremony
A reenactment of the first "Decoration Day" or "Memorial Day" was held at Rose Hill Cemetery on Saturday March 30, 2002. This is a century old practice of remembering soldiers of the Civil War that led to the creation of nation Memorial Day. Eight women dressed in antebellum attire placed flowers at the graves of 12 fallen Confederate soldiers and one Union Soldier, just as a group of women did in Columbus, Ms on April 25, 1866. The following are pictures of the events at this impressive ceremony.
