The MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS 2000 CAMPAIGN is based on the common values and interests we have in making our communities a better place for our families and children. It is based on restoring democracy and fair representation on our councils and school boards.
Since January the campaign has taken concrete shape through a working committee structure. There is a plan to educate our memberships, seek our suitable candidates, organize electoral support and improve voters' lists.
It is now the time, however, to put forward our comprehensive local Windsor & Essex statement of policies and priorities for the labour community, as this will be the basis for our platform on improving our lives and the community we live in.
This conference has one central objective: to establish a solid common statement of principles and issues related to local government, responsibilities of elected office, the quality of community life, the challenges of municipal services, and the value of the public sector.
The committee asks for your financial support of the JUNE 24th SUMMIT CONFERENCE luncheon costs. The estimated cost per delegate is $10.00 and your consideration of this request is appreciated very much.
Please contact Peter Pellerito, 973-2262, should you have further questions. Please submit your registration numbers through the W.D.L.C. office, 1214 Ottawa St., Windsor, 252-8281, to the attention of Peter Pellerito no later than JUNE 16th.
