BSA Scouting officials have approved a new leadership position called, The OA Troop Representative. This official scout position is the official link between the troop and OA. He is responsible for the communication of OA information to the troop, as necessary, and the communication of troop information to the OA chapter, as necessary. As the liaison, the youth will serve as a role model to other non-OA scouts on what an OA arrowman is.

In his unit, he will serve as a communication and programmatic link to and from arrowmen, adult leaders, and Scouts who are not presently members of the Order. He will do this in a fashion that strengthens the mission of the lodge, purpose of the Order, and the mission of the Boy Scouts of America. By setting a good example, he enhances the image of the Order as a service arm to his troop.  This position like other OA Leadership positions is a year round position, and should not be held for only six months.  However, the Order of the Arrow, or the Unit can replace the representative, if he is not fully meet the requirements of the OA Unit Representative Program.

This new position can be used by a Scout in a troop to meet the leadership position requirements for the Star, Life and Eagle ranks. National BSA Supply has the leadership patch on sale now at the local council offices.

The Chapter Executive Committee has made this program a required program for all units with OA members, beginning on June 1, 2001.  Any questions about this program should be sent to our Lodge Chief, Chapter Chief, or the Chapter Chairman
