Natalie Portman often portrays characters that are rather smart, mature, and grown up for their age. She turned down a role in The Horse whisperer to act in The Diary of Ann Frank on Broadway. She is a very inteligent person and considers her education to be very important in 1999 Natalie said in a TV interview that with the exception of the Star Wars prequels, she will not act for the next four years in order to concentrate on studying at Harvard University. Can speak fleuent Hebrew, French, and Japanese and says that math is he favorite subject in school because, "There's always an answer." She is currently studying psychology at Harvard, and says that she may plan to make that her career.
Natalie says she will most likely not continue acting, but when she started it was what she wanted to do.
