Across the Galaxy
Stepping onto the soft green grass, a striking man looked around at his surroundings.
"So this is Earth." He thought to himself. "Doesn't look all that endangered."
He glanced towards the sky, in the direction of his own planet.
"No." He scolded himself. "You will NOT get lost in thoughts, you came here on a mission, a mission you WILL complete."
And with that, he vanished into the trees.
The next day at Usagi and co.'s high school there was a commotion about a new student. Everyone was talking about how wonderful, smart, handsome and friendly he was, and half the girls were already hearing wedding bells.
Usagi, of course, wanted to see who everyone was making a fuss about, and she jumped up to catch a glimpse over the group of girls surrounding the new student.
When the teacher marched into the class, and everyone sat down, Usagi realised that the new guy was seated in a seat right next to her, with a novel propped open behind his textbook! Lucky!!
She wrote him a note, crumpled it up and threw it at his desk.
WELCOME! I'M TSUKINO USAGI, WHAT'S YOUR NAME?
He looked up at her, and his eyes flashed. Usagi was taken aback. There was something about this guy. He seemed to be able to look right into her soul.
The crumpled ball of paper bopped her on the nose, and she caught it before it fell to the floor.
MEET ME BEHIND THE SCHOOL DURING LUNCH.
She glanced back at the new student, but he was busy taking notes.
At lunch Usagi ran into Ami and Minako, and being the giggly little gossip she was, told them all about her note passing with the new student.
"His name is Mark, I heard he is really smart. He really loves to read." Ami stated, politely as usual.
"And he is soooooo dreamy!" Minako cried. "So, because you already have Mamoru, we are going to have to listen to this conversation to make sure you don't try anything!"
"Er... thats called eavesdropping..." Ami sweatdropped.
"Are you saying I would cheat on my Mamo-chan? No way!" Usagi cried, and marched off to meet Mark. Minako gleefully followed with Ami in tow, reluctantly.
Mark was leaning against the school wall, looking calm and unbothered by anything, reading a different book than earlier. Usagi walked up to him, nervously.
"Hi! I'm sorry I am late, but I just had to get these really good cookies at the cafeteria and then I saw some friends of mine and we..."
"I know who you are." He interuppted.
"Er... I'm Tsukino Usagi... I told you that earlier, so of course you know."
Mark looked at her sideways.
"I mean, I KNOW." Usagi looked at him, blankly.
"Thats because I told you..."
"No." His voice dropped to little more than a whisper. "I know you are a Senshi."
Usagi's eyes widened.
"How... how..."
"I have the ability to sense it. So are your friends that are hiding around the corner."
Out from the corner came Ami, Minako and Makoto (who had wandered by and Minako had no problems explaining in full gossipy detail).
"Who are you?" Makoto asked, while thinking that he might even be better looking than Motoki.
"My name is Mark. I came from a different planet, with a warning."
"What kind of warning?" Ami asked.
"Sailor Galaxia is interested in this planet, is she not?"
"Not anymore. Usa-Sailor Moon helped her."
Mark looked surprised for a moment.
"You mean, she is gone?"
Usagi nodded.
"I see." Mark looked thoughtful for a few minutes. "Well, no matter. Following Galaxia, because of her dark nature, there is a curse. Any planet she conquers, or in this case, attempts to, suffers the same fate."
"But we got rid of her!" Minako cried.
"Of her, yes, but the curse remains. There is a dark force already starting to worm its way into the people and beings of this planet. I'm sure you have noticed?"
"Now that I think of it, there has been more crime in the past few weeks..." Ami said, thoughtfully.
"Exactly. The warning I have is, if this is not stopped your planet will end up destroying itself. The people will turn on each other and war until there is nothing left."
"how do you know this?" Makoto asked.
"It happened on my planet." Mark said simply, looking away from the group. "When Galaxia took it over."
He looked so heartbreakingly sad, that the Senshi couldn't help but feel for him.
"So how do we destroy this curse?" Another voice asked. They turned around to see Rei standing there.
"Don't you go to a different school?" Usagi asked, but Rei just shrugged her off.
"I mean, you haven't told us anything about it." Rei continued.
"I.. don't know." Mark told them flatly.
"WHHHAAAATTT??!!" They all cried at the same time.
"I'm sorry. If I knew, I could have saved my own planet from destruction. That is why I am here, to warn you, so that you can try and stop it and save your people."
And so, the senshi and Mark all worked together along with Luna and Artemis to find how to destroy this curse. Through some clever research and planning, Ami came across a suspicious site in an old abandoned church. it seemed that whoever wandered by the church would soon find themselves comitting a heinous act of aggression. That, it seemed, would be where the souce of the curse was.
"It's creepy in here." Sailor Moon whined. "I wanna go home..."
"I can't see anything." Sailor Venus joined in the whining. "What are we looking for?"
"Keep your eyes peeled for anything suspicous..." Mark warned them, stepping into the old church.
"THERE!" Cried Makoto, pointing at a dark shadowy object that looked like a cross between a vortex and a black hole. No sooner did she say that then a blast of dark energy shot towards them, covering them in more darkness.
After a few moments all the Senshi stood back up. Sailor Jupiter shook her head.
"Now that was weird."
"Is anyone hurt?" Mark asked. Everyone replied negatively. "That's strange... why would it attack us, if it wouldn't injure us." He asked, more to himself than to the senshi...
"Well, I won't let it hurt you, Mark!" Sailor Venus cried, jumping in front of him.
"Oh no you don't! I'M going to protect him!" Sailor Mars pushed Venus out of the way.
"Actually, by all logic, it should be me that protects him." Mercury said with more ice in her voice than any of them had heard before.
"What about me? I love Mark!" Sailor Moon whined.
"No you don't! I DO!" Sailor Jupiter yelled at her.
"No, I DO!" Cried Mars and Venus at the same time. Mark looked flabbergasted. The girls glared at each other. Luna rubbed up against Mark's leg, purring.
"What is going on?" he asked.
"It seems all these women have been secretly hiding feelings for you... I've just made it a bit more interesting..." A strangely familiar voice came from the vortex.
"GALAXIA?!" Mark cried. Out of the vortex stepped a figure.
"No, not completely." She said. It was Galaxia, but more of a shadow of Galaxia, dark and evil looking. "I am all thats left of Galaxia's dark power. And once I gain the power of the people of this planet I will be able to become whole once more."
"No!" Mark cried. He spun around to see the Senshi attacking. Unfortunately they were attacking each other!!
"STOP!" He cried out. "CAN'T YOU SEE YOU ARE MAKING HER STRONGER?" He tried to gain their attention but the attacks kept coming.
There was only one thing he could think of doing. He jumped in the middle of the Senshi's battle with each other, yelling "NOOOOOOOO!"
Blasts of attacks hit him from all sides, and Mark slumped to the floor. All the girls gasped, suddenly realising what they were actually doing.
"Mark!" They all cried in unison, and rushed toward him, with Evil!Galaxia laughing behind them, relishing in the aggression they had just shown.
"Don't fight over me... please... there is enough destruction because of me..." Mark gasped out.
"What.. what are you talking about Mark?" Sailor Moon asked, smoothing down his hair.
"My planet.. my.. planet.. is also... Galaxia's home planet... we... we knew each other... she loved me, and I didn't know... I... I didn't realise... and she.. felt... rejected... that is why... that is why she is the way she is... if it weren't for me... all this death and destruction could have been avoided." Mark gasped.
"Don't... please.." Sailor Moon whispered, sobbing.
"I couldn't save her... but you did... thank you... and now.. you must... save your planet... forget about me..."
"No!" Cried Sailor Moon.
"DO IT!" cried Mark, as he closed his eyes, and died. Sailor Moon let out a pained sob, and then stood up, glaring angrily at Evil!Galaxia.
"Think you can beat me, little girl?" Evil!Galaxia smirked.
A blast of dark energy hit Sailor Moon, throwing her to the ground. The rest of the senshi shouted and jumped up, but also got knocked down by dark energy.
"And now I will absorb all of your energy. That will be enough for me to take over this city, and once I have this city, I can take the rest of the planet." Galaxia's shadow yelled out.
"No." A voice came from behind them. The girls looked up, painfully, to see a glowing figure. There stood Galaxia, glowing and bright like an angel, looking calmly at her shadow.
"You have done enough damage." The soothing voice spoke.
"NO! DON'T COME NEAR!" Cried the shadow, but Galaxia stepped towards her. The shadow tried to back off, but found herself frozen to the spot. She cried and screamed as Galaxia stepped closer, and embraced her.
"Be a part of me." Galaxia whispered, and the shadow screamed and seemed to meld into Galaxia's body. After a moment, Galaxia turned to face the senshi, who were know getting up.
"What happened to her?" Sailor Moon asked.
"I absorbed her. She can't survive on her own without draining the power of others. She now lives inside of me."
"But.. wouldn't that make you evil again?" Sailor Venus asked.
"If she were able to gain the strength, yes." Galaxia smiled gently.
"How will you stop her from doing that, if she did that before?" Sailor Mercury asked.
Galaxia smiled again.
"I used up almost all of my energy absorbing her. I have no strength left, and no will to live. If I am no longer alive, there is no longer a threat."
"But... you can't just kill yourself!!" Sailor Moon cried. "There has to be another way!"
Galaxia shook her head, with a sad smile.
"There isn't." She stepped towards Mark. "Besides, any reason I had to live is now gone." She lay down and placed her head on Mark's chest.
"Galaxia..." Sailor Moon cried. Galaxia opened her eyes and smiled up at Sailor Moon.
"Thank you Sailor Moon, you saved me, and so many others. Thank you." And with that, Galaxia closed her eyes, and passed away.
A few weeks later the old church was torn down and a public library was built on top of the land. Usagi spent more than an hour there, looking through books, before she got hungry and had to get some ice cream, but really, an hour was very impressive for her.
