The Christmas tree tradition
of decorating an evergreen tree with ornaments and garland began in Germany
in the 16th century. I would like to make my own garland to put
around the Christmas tree. I bought some string and a bag of red beads
and a bag of green beads at the store. Each bag contained 15 beads.
I also made 30 pieces of popcorn. Can you help me create a pattern
for the garland? Draw a picture.
For 4th and 5th graders:
If the section of garland described above is 2 feet long, how many bags of
beads do I need to buy and how much popcorn to I need to make if my tree
needs 6 yards of garland?
