This past Sunday and Monday we had
a nor'easter storm dump heavy amounts of rain and snow along the east
coast of the United States. Rochester had one and a half inches
of rain and 4 inches of snow depending on where you are in the
area. 10 inches of snow makes one inch
of water. If the temperature was colder and we had all snow and
no rain, how much snow would we have?
Show your work.
By the way, Casa Larga had 9 inches of snow reported because
of its higher elevation.
For 4th and 5th grades: While looking at the
historical data for Rochester weather, we had .38 inches of rain on
Sunday and 1.1 inches of rain on Monday. How much rain did we get
altogether? ____________
New York City had 7.57 inches of rain on Sunday and .9 inches on
Monday. How much rain did they get altogether? _____________
If the precipitation had been all snow, how much snow would they have?
