Jenny and Pam found an open package of cookies in the pantry to share.  After they handed them out evenly, there was one cookie left over.  Then Emily came into the room and asked if she could have some cookies.  They gathered the cookies back together and shared them equally with Emily, except there was one cookie left over.  Then Tom came and of course, wanted some cookies.  Jenny, Pam, and Emily gathered up all the cookies and shared them equally with Tom.  They still had one cookie left over.   How many cookies were in the bag?
