A Marriageable Young Girl
Catherine Benard
Catherine Benard was born about 1630 at Notre-Dame, Le Havre, Rouen, Normandy, France.  She arrived in the Quebec Colony as a Filles A Marier, contracted to be the bride of Jacques Launay from Sandouville, Le Havre, Rouen, Normandie, France.  They were wed on May 1, 1662 at Ste-Famille, Ile d'Orleans, Montmorency, Quebec.  Catherine and Jacques would have one child; Catherine, who grew up to marry Jean-Baptiste Simon Larcheveque.

Jacques died on February 25, 1660 at Ste-Famille and Catherine then married Pierre Labbe on July 31, 1672.  However, she died on October 23, 1672, before they had children.
