This is my story.
My TBI story goes back to June 29th 1963. I had just graduated from high school, was accepted to go to Nweberry College in September.
I had a two-seater Austin Healy bug eye automobile. The plans for the evening was to switch cars with my older sister {because she had a beautiful white Chevy convertible} and go on a double date. My best friend from Charlestion, SC was late as usual so I thought that it would be faster if I went to 'The Shack', high school and hang out, and then change cars with my sister. I turned into the path of a speeding Ford Comet that was going to fast for conditions. I was always atheletic in high school football, basketball and baseball. When I turned out into the path of the Ford I was thrown out of my car up to 15 feet and over 20 feet I landed on my backside. {I thought that this was the hardest hit I had ever recieved} The force of my landing then my head hitting the concrete caused a Bi-Laterial cranitomy. I was unconcious for 29 days. They performed my surgery in Charleston, SC and eventually through the efforts of my very supportive family I woke up. I had to learn how to walk, talk and how to do every thing all over again. So now it is late August time to go to school. I attempted but I just could not make it to school so I dropped out after 1 semester. I am so thank full for my family that they where all there to get me threw this. I still all though count on my family and I am all so very close to my family. I now have a pretty good life and I am all so on the board of TBI here in Myrtle Beach, SC. I love to help people that need help and that want help. It is very hard to live a life with TBI but all of us can do it. Just take One Day At A Time.
