The Believers Protection:

Spiritual protection, Physical protection and Mental protection.

Believer : A person who has accepted Christ as his personal savior, this person who believes that Christ Jesus will save him from the penalty of his sins is already protected from eternal death, ie. the fire of hell.

John 3:16 says that “whosoever believeth in him shall not perish but have eternal life”.

The whole world is still under the shadow of eternal death but the one who believes in Christ Jesus in thought, word and deed will be saved and awarded the crown of life. He is covered with Gods supreme protection-the spiritual protection. When we talk about the believer's life on earth we realize that it is not a bed of roses. No believer can escape the school of suffering. God not only allows suffering but also plans suffering in the life of a believer.

Romans 8:17 says “we must suffer as Christ suffered so that we will have glory as Christ has glory." This is exactly why Jesus spoke about carrying the daily cross. As gold sparkles when purified so must our impurities be burnt off in the fire of suffering so that we may be presented perfect and sparkling before God.

But at the same time we must remember that God is not a silent spectator in our suffering. God does not guarantee a problem free life but He promises to be with us in our problems. When Paul pleaded to remove the thorn from his flesh God said “my grace is sufficient for you”. God does not guarantee deliverance from pain and suffering but He promises his grace which strengthens us and sees us through. As a result Paul declared jubilantly “when I am weak then I am strong”

When David advocated fighting the mighty Goliath, King Saul dressed him in his own armour but the armour was too heavy for David so he removed it and faced goliath with a sling and the name of the living God. The first stone killed the mighty Goliath. David proved that one believer plus God is a mighty army. We need to remove the heavy armour of worldliness, the helmet of human wisdom, the sword of human strength and the belt of monetary independence and we need to wear the armour of God.—the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation and the sword of the spirit of God. Only then we will be able to fight the powers of the dark.

God's cover of protection was

upon baby Moses to baby Jesus when they were saved from the swords of mighty kings,

upon Shedrak, Meshak and Abidnago when they were saved from furnace,

upon Daniel when he was saved from the lions den,

upon the Israelites when they were chased by the powerful Egyptian armies,

upon Elijah when he was fed by ravens

and even upon Stephen when he was stoned to death.

Gods cover of protection is still upon his chosen people—the believers.

The greatest adversary in the life of a believer is satan. The Bible says that satan roams like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. He weakens the believer mentally by sowing the seeds of anxiety, fear hatred deception, despair and discouragement. But God is like the mother hen who calls her chicks at the distant sight of the eagle. Safe are the ones who go in the mothers wings, others will be easily snatched away. The believer's protection lies in the immediate and implicit obedience of the mildest whisper of the spirit of God. Prayer is a mighty tool in the hands of a believer.

·        Satan trembles when he sees the weakest believer on his knees.

·        When prayer goes up, protection comes down.

God does not ensure us from tests and trials, difficulties and dangers, diseases, accidents or even death, but

His grace sees us through

His guidance protects us from going astray

His love protects us in our weakness

His joy protects us from despair

His presence protects us from loneliness

His knowledge protects us from deception

His assurance protects us from doubts and worries

His hope protects us from discouragement and

His forgiveness protects us from eternal death.

The promises of protection for a believer are beautifully summed in Psalm 91

"Because he loves me says the Lord

I will rescue him

I will protect him because he acknowledges my name

He will call upon me and I will answer him

I will be with him in trouble

I will deliver him and honour him

With long life will I satisfy him and show him my salvation"

What a blessing for the believer!
