"MULDER AND SCULLY ENLIST THE HELP OF FORMER FBI AGENT FRANK BLACK ON AN ALL-NEW 'THE X-FILES' NOV. 28 ON FOX
Agents Mulder and Scully enlist the help of former FBI agent Frank Black (gueststar Lance Henriksen) to unravel a mystery of apocalyptic proportions. The agents race against time to stop members of the Millennium Group who hold the ability to summon the dead and plan to use this power to end the world as the millennium draws to a close in the "Millennium" episode of THE X-FILES airing Sunday, Nov. 28 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. (XF-705) (TV-14; V)
November 18 1999: From Entertainment Weekly:
"It's the moment you've been either drooling over (Millennium fans hungry for closure...both of them) or dreading (the rest of us): Mulder and Scully seek the help of Frank Black (Lance Henriksen) in their investigation of an apocalyptic mystery."
Marty responded to Daniel Wood's posting on the spoilerville list as follows: "FX aired a commercial last night for the 8 crucial Millenium episodes which lead to the X Files / Millennium crossover ep on the Sunday following Thanksgiving. They start running at noon on November 28, with in between narrative by Lance Henriksen. They'll end by 9pm so we can all switch over to Fox and will know what's going on with Mulder and Scully's involvement (I hope)."
This plot synopsis comes from Daniel Wood to the spoilerville list: "The graves of four FBI agents who commited suicide is desecrated and a symbol is left that has Mulder suspecting that someone wants to end the world. Found in a psychiatric ward, ex-FBI agent Frank Black is enlisted to help Mulder and Scully investigate the Millennium Group's ritualistic killings and apocalyptic plans, while a Group member who has the power to summon the dead is trying to bring the world to an end as the millennium draws to a close."
From "elwood blues" to the spoilerville list: "Frank Black is the agents' only hope in preventing the Four Horsemen from seeing the new year in 'Millennium'. The Four Horsemen will bring the Apocalypse over the world as the bible says... but our 3 heroes will save the world. No big deal..."
October 26 1999: From an Official FOX Press Release:
"Mulder and Scully enlist the help of former FBI agent Frank Black (guest star Lance Henriksen) to unravel a mystery of apocalyptic proportions. The agents race against time to stop a member of the Millennium Group who holds the ability to summon the dead and plans to use this power to end the world as the millennium draws to a close."
October 15 1999: From an Official FOX Press Release:
"Lance Henriksen guest stars as former FBI agent Frank Black, who is called in to aid Mulder and Scully in an investigation of a series of ritualistic killings, which have been linked to the Millennium Group."
October 10 1999: From MRLight2:
"According to Millenium 2000.... it's the fifth episode produced, formerly titled 'Strawberry.com':
In one scene Frank Black talks to a man outside his house about something he may be concealing in his basement. Rumor has it that Jordan Black (Frank's daughter) makes a cameo, and Peter Watts isn't in it at all, and that it doesn't resolve any Millennium plotlines.
Older news:
Mulder and Scully investigate something weird involving the Millennium Group. Frank Black is consulted by them, and our intrepid agents see the arrival of the new millennium through his eyes - figuratively. These cult members and their families are convening together in some forest, 'sacred ground' area in some kind of creepy Y2K survivalist and Jonestown means. It will concern the new millennium set against New Year's Eve but all the guest stars and characters will be from Millennium. Involves raising the dead and a widow whose husband just killed himself. Takes place in Maryland."
September 23 1999: From Autumn Tysko:
"This episode is actually called "Millennium". It is written by Gilligan & Spotnitz. It starts shooting Sept. 23rd, takes place in Frederick County, Maryland, and has to do with raising the dead.
Question 1: Is this the crossover, then?
Answer: That would certainly be my assumption based on the name.
Question 2: Thanks Autumn. Can one hope that Jordan Black is the dead kid?
Answer: LOL, I don't think so. There is a widow in the cast whose husband has just committed suicide. I don't know who all dies or is raised at this point.
Question 3: Are Mulder and Scully investigating this as an X-File or are they on loan as scientist and criminal profiler?
Answer: Seems to me like they are investigating it as an X-File."
September 18 1999: From Mark Cadrey:
"The rumored plot for the crossover (which has yet to be written, much less even outlined) focuses on Mulder and Scully investigating some weird crime or incident that, at first, seems to be tied into the series' own mytharc, but the two learn of a mysterious millennium cult made up of former and present FBI agents that is really behind it. Frank Black is consulted by them, and our intrepid agents see the arrival of the new millennium through his eyes -- literally or figuratively, I don't know. There's a major plot point about these cult members and their families convening together in some forest, 'sacred ground' area in some kind of creepy Y2K survivalist and Jonestown means. That's the basic idea CC has in mind. It will be a bonafide X-Files episode concerning the new millennium set against New Year's Eve but all the guest stars and characters will be from Millennium. This is what I've been told through the prelim story sessions for the series' upcoming episodes thus far."
"The episode is not 7X07, it is 7X08. That's a false rumor from Cinescape Online. It will air Dec. 26. Other rumors from Millennium 2000: Britney Tiplady will reprise her role as Jordan Black. Unfounded rumours also suggest the following:
That only Scully will actually interact with Frank
That the show will be an X-Files story that just happens to relate to the idea of a millennial apocalypse, meaning the focus won't be on Frank Black
That Megan Gallagher will return for some flashback scenes as Catherine Black, as will Terry O'Quinn as Peter Watts [both unconfirmed]
That Thomas J. Wright will direct the episode, which is likely to be written by Chris Carter and Frank Spotnitz [only Chris Carter it seems]
That the episode will be the first ever 2-hour episode (counting breaks) of The X-Files"
September 15 1999: From MrLight2:
"Unconfirmed reports suggest the X-Files/Millennium crossover special will happen on December 19th, the 7th episode of their 7th season. Also, further rumour suggests the plot will revolve around Mulder and Scully discovering the Millennium Group's apocalyptic plans after they investigate their use of ex-FBI Agents."
September 12 1999: From Elwood Blues:
"Classification: Millennium Crossover!!!
Story: Millenium meets The X-Files
Lance Henriksen and Tterry O´Quinn will be in it."
