February 29 2000: From Kate J:
"This seems to be an Easter episode, with a monster that looks a lot like Marilyn Manson! It involves a woman who turns into this monster. Mulder has a fight scene. There may be a good scene with Mulder and Scully where she asks him if he's as miserable as she is?! They also go to a strip club?!"
LC Fenster's Response: "More like they're staking out a strip club -- or at least Scully is. Mulder gets involved in the chimera case, leaving Scully behind to handle the stakeout. She is NOT a happy camper."
"This one is Scully-lite (hence the stakeout duty), to free up Gillian for prep on ep 17, which is her episode."
February 25 2000: From Daniel Wood:
"A chimera is, in Greek mythology, a beast that was part-lion, part-she-goat, and part-snake. Iona at The Haven says it is an `imaginary monster made of up grotesquely disparate parts.` Taking the more scientific approach, a chimera is an organism that consists of two or more tissues of different genetic composition. That is, it could be produced thanks to mutation or grafting or the mixture of cell populations from different zygotes."
"Mulder investigates a grimoire while Scully stakes out a strip club. A chimera is an 'imaginary monster made of up grotesquely disparate parts.'"
February 22 2000: From LCFenster:
"Mulder gets kissed all right in this episode. With his shirt off. As he's about to take a bath. In someone's home. I can hear the howls of shippers already."
"Scully is meanwhile on assignment elsewhere, watching the entrance to a strip club. Bored out of her mind. Calling Mulder every so often to complain, while he's having a good time investigating his X-File. "
"If memory serves, this one is Scully-lite because GA is prepping her own ep."
February 15 2000: From Marty:
"I can die happy. I've seen David dressed as Mulder. Charcoal suit, BLUE SHIRT, tie, black trench overcoat. *Sigh*"
"When I got there they had several sheriff's cars pulled up haphazardly to the house, and a coroner's vehicle. All had red Vermont government plates. There was police tape around the front yard. There was activity but no filming. They ended up moving all of the cars and brought out the misters. I have to describe this carefully because it looked so X-Files it was perfect.
"The house is a ranch style home, white with black shutters. It's got a nice pocket porch and a big picture window in front. The shingles are wood, some with green 'mold' growing on them (it's paint - this IS Los Angeles). The garage looks like a barn, no better way to describe it, and the yard is fenced in with a chunky white fence. They added a whole bunch of flowers to the homeowners' 200 roses already there and the best way to describe it is - remember the last scene in 'Rain King'? Needless to say, it's the picture of your quaint domestic bliss. There are several big trees in the front yard."
"So imagine this home at night...the front yard, mist, big gnarly trees, police tape, headlights and red and blue police lights flashing, and Mulder standing in the middle of it in his black suit and overcoat. Fabulous."
"He filmed several scenes in the yard and it must have taken about one and a half to two hours total. Steve the double was still wearing the funky gray pants and blue jacket so evidently they don't require the doubles to always wear the same costume. What a relief."
February 14 2000: From Marty:
"This just in from a good, reliable source at the location shoot in Van Nuys today . . .
'I was there. I didn't see David but I saw some filming outside...and I saw the monster! Good and closeup! He's a lizardy looking thing with long arms and clawed hands and long frizzy straight black hair. You could almost say he looks sort of American Indian only with a lizardy body and skin. Also, he's got these hooky nub thingys down his spine.
'They were filming a woman standing at the driver's side window of a dark green Jeep Cherokee. They call "Action!" and hit something and she jumps and screams and then looks around. This is in broad daylight.
'There were Vermont license plates on the cars and flyers tucked underneath windshield wipers with "HAVE YOU SEEN THIS..." and a color photo. Sorry, I didn't get a good look except when I guy came to pick up the flyers and the plates but I think it was a young woman or a child in the photo.
'On my way out I saw another Cherokee just like that one. The driver's side door was open and there was all kids of wires and stuff coming out of a funky molded looking panel so there's probably some kind of special effect. The window will break, perhaps.
'I think I also saw the woman who is the woman who kisses Mulder. This is a different one from the Cherokee scene. She's thin, not too tall not too short, with kinda ratty looking brownish with the top layer bleached out hair. She's kind of pretty in a trampy kind of way - reminded me of Melissa Ephesian. Looks only - no negative associations to that one, please!
'I saw David's double. The costume is dark gray dockers, wrinkly and faded, brown shoes, a white t shirt with a small plaid shirt untucked. This is what David was wearing last night, too. And the Versace-style sunglasses. All in all, he looks like a dork. He was wearing the puffy blue coat, which is different from the ones other people were wearing so I think it's part of the costume. And he's got a little facial hair but that doesn't mean David does since this guy is only a stand in.
'So this guy was hanging around but kept walking back and forth to the base camp and I was cold and hungry. They moved the shooting back inside and I figured David wasn't going to be showing up anytime soon so I came home and ordered a pizza.'"
February 8 2000: From the Official X-Files Web Site:
"Mulder investigates a grimoire [a manual of black magic (for invoking spirits and demons)] in David Amann's untitled episode #16, which will tentatively air on 4/2. Cliff Bole directs."
February 6 2000: From Elwood Blues:
"It appears that Mulder gets kissed by a banshee hanging around in a small Vermont town. Here is: a little info on the banshee: A female spirit in Gaelic folklore whose appearance or wailing warns of approaching death.
"The raven from this ep may be the banshee, transforming... Skinner is in this episode."
February 4 2000: From Autumn:
"This episode is way Scully light, no doubt to give Gillian prep time for her episode. It starts on Easter. It's got monsterish murders in a small Vermont town with a raven constantly hanging around being forboding. It starts out as a missing person case that Skinner pulls Mulder off of surveillance to pursue leaving Scully alone on said surveillance and in contact via cell phone."
"Some fans are certain to get themselves all in a knot over it because someone besides Scully kisses Mulder in it."
