December 6 2000 : From The Official X-Files Website:
"Agents Scully and Doggett are called in to investigate the case of a man accused of murdering his wife. However, the man (guest star Joe Morton) has no recollection of the crime. Initially skeptical of his claim, Scully and Doggett discover that time may not be on his side."
"'Justice' is at the core of an offbeat murder tale in which time goes backward for Doggett's prosecutor friend (Joe Morton) as he stands accused of murdering his wife (Anne-Marie Johnson)."
August 17 2000 : From The Official X-Files Website:
"Season 8. Written by Steve Maeda, from a story by Steve Maeda & Daniel Arkin, this episode will be directed by Peter Markle and begins shooting on 8/16. It will tentatively air on 11/19."
August 15 2000: From an Anonymous Source:
The story is told almost entirely from Martin Wells' point of view. Reminds me of how 'Hungry' was told from Rob Roberts' point of view.
Secondary storyline is the relationship between Doggett & Wells
All indications are that this is a Scully-lite episode. Only 9 instances of Scully dialogue in what I've seen to date.
No mention of Mulder. However, I have not seen the entire episode, so there may be mention in the parts I have not seen.
Scully & Doggett appear in the teaser
Time stamp: 13 November 2000
Martin Wells' court case is number 8ABX03 the episode number for "Redrum"
When Martin Wells tells Scully & Doggett that he is traveling backward in time, Scully doesn't dismiss it outright. Instead, she asks Wells why he thinks this is happening & notes that maybe the answer is within him.
Wells spends one night at Doggett's house so we get a chance to see how Doggett lives
Doggett doesn't hesitate to pull his gun or use it
Doggett saves the day & Scully is along for the ride
Remember, all of these spoilers are from an early version of the episode. Things could change drastically by the time filming occurs."
August 12 2000: From Autumn:
"The lawyer accused of murdering his wife is Martin Wells. He is a friend of Doggett's, which is why Doggett and Scully are involved. Martin is killed in the teaser. The X-File is that he then starts living his life backwards one day at a time as he tries to prove he was framed and avoid his untimely end."
"BTW, the start date for shooting this episode is August 16th."
August 11 2000: From Star:
"The federal prosecutor on trial is actually an old friend of John Doggett. He of course denies killing his wife. As for the supernatural element - stop reading now if you don't want to know - Martin Wells is moving backward in time. Today is Thursday, tomorrow for him would be Wednesday, etc. He doesn't remember anything that to everyone else happened previously because he hasn't lived it yet. Martin is very interested in discussing this with Scully.
"BTW, for anyone who hasn't seen/read The Shining, the title 'Redrum' comes from the Stephen King novel. When the little boy is temporarily possessed, he sees redruM in the mirror and says it over and over again. As we all know 'redruM' backwards is 'Murder.'"
August 10 2000: From Star:
"The episode is about a man accused of his wife's murder who realizes he's suddenly living his life backwards, one day at a time---and Scully may be the only person who can help him figure out why."
August 9 2000: From Autumn:
"Episode 8x03 takes place in Baltimore, MD. It's definitely a standalone episode. It's about a man who is a Federal prosecutor who finds himself on trial for the murder of his wife."
