October 15 2000 : From Fox:
"In the Nov. 26 episode 'Roadrunners,' Scully, while investigating on her own a murder in the New Mexico desert, discovers a small remote town housing a paranormal cult that keeps a terrible secret. Scully's discovery of the cult's secret puts her life in danger, and she must rely on Doggett to track down her hidden whereabouts and save her life."
September 10 2000 : From Autumn:
"I just thought what I read [in the 8x05 script] could be a very unsettling episode. I thought it was creepy and it made me very interested to see this episode and what they do with it. I did not feel it was making a statement about Scully needing Doggett or getting into trouble because he was not there at all. Which is why I said your mileage may vary. People interpret things differently. The moral as you stated it was not my interpretation of what I read. Besides, who knows how it will come across once it is filmed.
"I don't see Scully being in any jeopardy at any point as being a message that she needs a partner. She's in jeopardy all the time on this show. In 'Patience' Doggett is in jeopardy, but I don't think the moral of that story is that he really DOES need a partner and why don't we like Scully yet. ;)"
"As far as I can tell it [Scully's investigation in the episode] does not have anything to do with Mulder's disappearance, but as I said I have not read the whole script. I do get the impression however that she's there because the death resembles a number of unsolved deaths. She has Doggett pull some cases for her that match autopsy results for this victim. "
September 9 2000 : From Autumn:
"Question for Autumn: So she goes to Utah by herself---can we assume that's a ditch?
Answer from Autumn: Well, I don't. I don't have the scene of her leaving, but I don't assume it is a ditch. Seems like she's going to Utah to talk to some law enforcement there.
Question for Autumn: The 'disappearance' is probably against her will.
Answer from Autumn: Yes, but let's not forget she's smart with a pretty strong will.
Question for Autumn: And the moral of the story is, 'Scully really DOES need a partner, so why don't you meanies out there like Doggett yet?' Am I close?
Answer from Autumn: That's not what I got, but your mileage may vary."
September 7 2000 : From Autumn:
"Basic premise: Scully is investigating the stoning death of a person in the middle of nowhere Utah while Doggett is back in DC. While there she runs into an odd bunch of folks living in a ghost town who are very interested in her skills as a medical doctor. "
September 6 2000 : From The Official X-Files Website:
"Scully's stuck in a Utah one-horse town with a cult and a slug. Confused? It's the set-up for the fifth episode, written by Vince Gilligan. Rod Hardy begins directing the still untitled script on 9/8."
September 3 2000 : From Jamie:
"September 8, The X-Files will be filming in the Angeles National Forrest in Santa Clarita (19802 PLACERITA CANYON RD). They will be there for two days. This means that the episode will most likely be heavily set in the forest."
August 31 2000: From TLynn:
"This episode starts shooting on Sept. 8th. Still untitled. Takes place in a small town in Utah. Here are some characters they're casting right now:
Hank: a hitchhiker traveling across the country. Road weary but VERY likeable.
Mr. Milsap: Patriarchal. Owner of a rundown boarding house -- Leader of a cult.
Lead Agent: An FBI agent from Salt Lake City office who comes in to investigate SCULLY'S DISPPEARANCE."
