I recently moved back to IL and into my parents' new home after attending school in AZ for the past three years. I had only been to their house once before for a visit. At this time I noticed that there was a certain door in between the hearth room and the bar/family room that gave me this incredible sense of fear. This happened only during the evening hours after dark. I had a sense that a hideous green face was looking in sneering at all who passed by. Now I have never been one to scare easy especially by ghost stories. I can only think of one experience, i.e a ghost story that frightened me (other than the one I'm about to tell to you). I'm also a psych major so the hallucinations of a tired mind or something to that effect are not strange to me. I'm use to being the only one up late at night because I'm more of a night person. My parents' house is in a fairly secluded, wooded subdivision on a lake. There are all sorts of strange sounds from the local wildlife at night. These do not frighten me. What frightens me and still frightens me as I write this is the following tale. I, along with my father, were siting on our deck at the back of the house entertaining friends of my father's from work. This had been going on since 5pm. Around 9 or 9:15pm my puppy began shrieking in a blood-curdling manner. Now I would normally discount this to his age. He is a very young pup and still hates being left alone. However, he does not make THOSE sounds when he A) is left in his crate overnight, B) is hungry,or C)has had his tail or paws stepped on by accident. I've had the pup long enough to distinguish what his barks and yelps mean. At the sound of my pup shrieking, I leaped up from the deck and ran towards the kitchen where the pup's crate was. HE was still shrieking as I pulled him from his crate. I brought him to the deck and placed him in my lap. I petted him to calm him down which took ten or fifteen minutes. I then began to walk towards the outside door to the kitchen when I began to get this eerie feeling that all was not right. That same fear from "the door" overcame me and I stopped to examine the kitchen from the hearthroom windows. I was in complete fear. I noticed the dog was apprehensive about returning inside. I took him back to his crate in the laundry room located off the kitchen and he sniffed the entire room as if looking for someone or something! I wasn't too thrilled about being there myself. I called him back into the kitchen to play. The rest of the night I had this fearful feeling. It was really creepy. Now I guess the pup could have caught his paws or tail in the crate openings or possibly an insect bit him. We do have a lot of spiders in our laundry room. However, I examined him and he didn't seem to have any sore spots. Who knows? All I have to say is that I hope I can get to sleep nights. |
