The Old Stagecoach Stop

In the summer of '91 my oldest sister got married and moved into this old house that used to be a stagecoach stop way back when. It was kind of a nice place. It had 8 rooms with 7 fire places, literally. But anyway I like a good ghost story. She told me the first time any ghost made contact with her or her now-ex-husband was when her ex was outside one day doing something. Later when he went back inside he told her that he had heard the cat screaming as if someone were shaking it violently. When he went to see what was going on, he'd only gotten halfway around to the back when he heard something that sounded like an ogre say "I’m gonna kill that cat". Three days later, when my sister and a friend of her ex were out on the porch, he asked her what was wrong with the cat because it was just lying there on the porch as if it were dead. So my sister tapped it with her foot and sure enough it was dead, I guess the ghost kept good on his words. She also told me that they used to sit out on the porch and see shadows on the walls when their were no cars driving by or any living people for that matter.

Then one other time her ex went upstairs to look for the cat and she realized that she need something from upstairs. When she got up there he asked her, "Did you hear that?" "Hear what?" "A music box." "No", she said, so he went out on the roof to get the cat and it started playing again. This time both of them heard it and she said the song was We wish you a Merry Christmas but it was New Years so that was really odd. The ghost was way off wishing them a Merry Christmas.

And the last incident before she moved out was late one night while she was trying to sleep. A loud banging noise started up in the room above theirs that sounded like someone was throwing furniture around. So she woke up her ex and told him to go see what it was. He said, "I’m not going, you go." She told him "I’m not going either", so she said neither one of them went and the noise finally stopped and both of them fell asleep. Soon after she moved out and they got divorced. And that was the last ghost story that I ever heard about that house.
