Dear Sancharnet Customer,

In its effort to provide better mail services to its valued Sancharnet Customers, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) is revamping the mail servers. The switchover is likely to be carried out soon and shall be intimated to you through email one day in advance.

For you, our valued customer, the change will imply a change in names of Incoming (POP3), Outgoing (SMTP) Mail Servers and configuration of email clients immediately after switchover.

For a faster switchover, you are requested to kindly download all your emails from the old mail servers.

Please implement the changes indicated below immediately after the switchover to continue sending and receiving your e-mail messages:

(1) Replace the entry in your email client (Netscape or Outlook Express) for Incoming (POP3) Mail Server with appropriate entry as per Table-A below:

(2) Replace the Outgoing (SMTP) Mail Server entry in your e-mail client (Netscape or Outlook Express) as per Table-B below:

(3) Configure SMTP authentication for sending emails.

Steps for Outlook Express:

Click on "Tools" -> Click on "Accounts" -> Click on "Mail" ->
Select "Your Account" -> Click on "Properties" -> Click on "Servers" ->
Check "My Server Requires Authentication" -> Click on "Settings" ->
Ensure that "Use same settings as my incoming mail server" is checked ->
Click on "OK" -> Click on "Apply" -> Click on "OK" -> Click on "Close"

Steps for Netscape Messenger:

Click on "Edit" -> Click on "Preferences" ->
Double Click on "Mail and News Groups" -> Click on "Mail Servers" ->
Ensure that "Outgoing mailserver username" is filled in -> Click on "OK"

(Note: Mailserver Username is your emailID without sancharnet.in)

NOTE:
(4) Existing Userid and Password shall continue for both incoming and outgoing mail servers.

(5) Services of existing incoming and outgoing mail servers shall also remain available upto 0000 hrs of the 7th Day from the date-time of changeover.

(6) You may continue to use webmail services, available through http://www.sancharnet.in.

(7) Check for updates, latest guidelines about switchover, configuration of mail clients on http://www.sancharnet.in

(8) Please contact your local node incharge or Help desk for further technical support, if required.

I use wmma.sancharnet.in for POP3 - Incoming mail server
and nmra.sancharnet.in for SMTP - Outgoing mail server.
