Mission Statement

The Greater Kingston Bantam Curling League was created in 2001 to give young curlers both Boys and Girls, an opportunity to participate in Competitive Curling in the Kingston area. LEAGUE SUMMARY

The league will be for Bantam aged competitors. The league will have participants from the following areas: Kingston, Napanee, Belleville, Gananoque, and Brockville. Teams will play a round robin series from November to March.

Games are scheduled and rotated at the various clubs participating and will usually be played on Saturday or Sunday.

Eligibility rules require that bantams must be under the age of 16 on December 31 as per OCA rules and teams can be comprised of any combination of boys and girls.

LEAGUE INFORMATION

The Goodyear Kingston Bantam Curling League will consist of ten teams in it’s inaugural year. Participating clubs will be invited to enter two teams in the league.

Age requirement - Bantams - boys and girls whose ages are under 16 as of December 31 (as per OCA rules).

Each division would play a round robin series from November to March. The schedule will be finalized upon confirmation of dates and teams involved.

At the conclusion of the year, usually in March or April there would be a final playoff day.

All teams would play in the playoffs.

Games would be scheduled and rotated at the various clubs in each division and could be played on Saturday or Sunday evenings depending on ice availability at the various clubs.

Teams can consist of any combination of boys and girls and must meet the age eligibility as specified above.

LEAGUE RULES

Participants can be either male or female.

Each team can have any combination of boys and girls represented in all games.

Each team must have a coach.

A coin flip will determine the hammer..

There is no limitation on the number of spares used in a regular league game. Spares must meet age elibibility requirements. Spares playing in the final playoffs must have played at least one entire regular league game. Teams must be represented by at least two of their original team members to participate in the playoff round.

All games are scheduled to be 6 ends. All games should be played in 2 hours. Where the ice is in use following the game, no new end can begin later than 10 minutes prior to the scheduled conclusion of the game. Where the ice is not in use following the game, the game will be played in its entirety, subject to the game being conceded. Coaches will monitor or expedite play.

The following points will determine the ranking of teams:

Win 5 points Tie 3 points Loss 1 point Default 0 points

In the event of a tie, rankings will be determined first by the winner of the "Head to Head" game, then in order by, number of wins or by number of ends won.

A game may be conceded at any time.

All score sheets must be submitted to the League Co-ordinator (T. Zarichny) at the completion of each game.

In the event that a team is unable to play a scheduled game, the League Co-ordinator must be advised immediately. Rescheduling of games is permitted provided both teams can agree upon a time and place and subject to the game being played sometime prior to the next scheduled game in the league schedule. Team requesting reschedule will be in default if not played by then.

In the event that a team is unable to start at the scheduled time (practice time), the following rules shall apply to that team depending upon the time that the game commences past the scheduled starting time:

0-10 minutes Loss of practice time

30-40 minutes 2 ends, 2 points and last rock on 3rd end forfeited

after 40 minutes game will be considered defaulted

A team winning by default will be awarded 5 points.

The top four teams division from regular league play will make it to the A-side play-off round. The other six teams will play for the B-championship.

Each team will be permitted on ice warm-ups prior to each game for seven and half minutes per team and the team with the last rock advantage will practice first.

The scheduled ‘game time’ is the beginning of practice time. This will allow a total of fifteen minutes of scheduled practice time.

Coaches are permitted on the ice for a 2-minute team meeting at the end of the 3rd end.

Dress code is recommended for all clubs and will be enforced at selected clubs.

Spectators are asked to refrain from coaching from behind the glass.

An entry fee of $80.00 will be charged for each team.

PLAY-OFFS

Top four teams in each division would qualify for the A-division play-offs in a single knock-out format. The other six teams would play in the B-division play-off. The A-division will determine a winner and runner-up. The two teams that lost their first game in the A-side final will play in the A-side consolation final. The six teams in the B-division will play their first game in a ‘points’style format. This will determine which event they will play their second game in. The top two would play in the first event, the next two in the second event and so on.
